It surprised many, including Gold Derby, that Stranger Things won for Best TV Stunt Ensemble at the 2023 Screen Actors Guild Awards. In fact, amongst Gold Derby’s users, many had voted Netflix’s sci-fi series into fourth place.
But the series surpassed all expectations and walked away with the trophy, which recognizes the work of stunt performers on coordinators, on Sunday night. Stranger Things had previously lost this award to Game of Thrones in 2017 and 2019.

Stranger Things wins Best TV Stunt Ensemble at the 2023 Screen Actors Guild Awards
Stranger Things managed to defy odds and win the award for Best TV Stunt Ensemble over House of the Dragon, Andor, The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, and The Boys. House of the Dragon was the favorite going in, but honestly, from this field I would have voted for The Boys, not because I don’t think highly of the other shows, but because The Boys has one of the best stunt teams out there.
But alas, it did not, and that’s okay! If it had to go to someone else, Stranger Things was next on my list. The recent season was incredible, and I think the stunt team did a marvelous job bringing it all together. After all, facing Vecna isn’t easy!
Speaking of which, the final season of Stranger Things will go into production later this year, with a projected release date of sometime in 2024. It seems like a very long time to wait, but it will be worth it!
