Game of Thrones was the biggest TV show of the past decade, and whether you loved or hated the final season, you have to admit it had some of the best storylines in early and mid seasons compared to contemporary shows. It is one of the reasons why the show reached the heights it did during its decade-long run, winning a record number of accolades and awards, setting the benchmark for quality shows for years to come. Netflix’s Stranger Things has had an amazing run so far, and the creators of the series are confident that season 4 of the show is going to be on the level of Game of Thrones.

Speaking to Deadline in a recent interview, showrunner Matt Duffer explained what can we expect in the fourth season, “We kind of jokingly call it our Game of Thrones season because it’s so spread out, so I think that’s what’s unique or most unique about the season.”

“Joyce and Byers family to have left at the end of Season 3, They are in California – we’ve always wanted to have that like ‘E.T’.-esque suburb aesthetic, which we finally got to do this year in the desert; and then we have Hopper in Russia; and then, of course, we have a group remaining in Hawkins. So we have these three storylines, are all connected and kind of interwoven together, but it’s just very different tones.”

Stranger Things has had an exciting run so far, however comparing it with Game of Thrones might seem like a bit of a stretch. Also, it remains to be seen which season of Game of Thrones will season 4 of the Netflix sci-fi series will turn out to be, because we know how controversial the entire run of George R. R. Martin’s TV adaptation really was.
