Bryan Cranston is set to appear as Walter White for (probably) the final time. And no, it’s not in a spinoff film or series, but rather a minute-long Super Bowl commercial alongside Aaron Paul (Jesse Pinkman). Both are reprising their Breaking Bad roles for the PopCorners commercial which was released ahead of Sunday’s big game.

It’s quite possibly the most unexpected way for Cranston to take his final bow as Walter White, but I’m here for it. We got chills from Walter’s death in Breaking Bad and saw him again in a cameo in the follow-up film El Camino, not to mention his most recent appearance in the final season of Better Call Saul. Rounding things out: a popcorn commercial.

Cranston talked about his return as Walter White with Extra. “This might be the retiring episode of the Breaking Bad universe,” he said. “I’ve had opportunities to bring Walter White into the milieu. I did it for Aaron’s movie El Camino and then once again for Better Call Saul. We were able to come back and each time we think, ‘Well, this is the last time we’re ever going to do this, and then PopCorners calls and it was like, ‘Well, we’ll do it one more time.’”

After Super Bowl commercial, Bryan Cranston may say farewell to Walter White for good

I mean, this was a popcorn commercial, so I’m just saying, I think we can probably convince him to come back again sometime. What if there was a Gus Fring spinoff?! He couldn’t say no to Vince Gilligan for that!

The PopCorners commercial also features the return of Raymond Cruz’s Tuco. It’s a throwback to the show’s first episode, but instead of cooking meth, Walt and Jesse are cooking some white cheddar popcorn.

It’s not exactly how I thought I would say goodbye to Bryan Cranston’s Walter White, but hey, something is better than nothing, right?
