  1. I do not know why people are getting so worked up about likes and dislikes that do not match their own…
    You mortals are weird….

I enjoy each and every content you deliver to us, Jirard.
It often changes even my point of view towards certain aspects of a game, as well as strengthen my established tastes and believes…

It strikes me with disgust that people abuse the connective hive of the world wide web to spread nothing but hate, hypocrisy and false facts, rather than sharing ideas, theories and what they enjoy…

It became too easy for them to simply hide their faces and spit on the works of others to justify their own meaningless existence… But I am glad that people like you, MatPat, Markiplier and AngryJoe keep on reminding those fools, that the world is built upon more than just their warped fantasies and baseless accusations… Having an oppinion is one thing. Accepting others, even though they do not match your own is a whole different serving. Whoever masters to deal with such differences will truly understand what happiness means.

  2. I think that defend it may have helped inspire The Game Theorists' Dead Lock. Both shows are sort of defending/attacking games/aspects of games. I really liked both shows and I wish that both or at least one of them would come back.

  3. I LOVED Final Fantasy VII month. It was a very good experience, you had some good points and overall it was interesting. I hope it makes you feel better to see some people who liked it (and I bought the Embrace your Beard shirt even though I have a hard time growing one).

  4. there are references and recurring elements from this in other games! the shy guys are in many mario games! as are the Ninjis or what about the Pokeys???

many characters from this game have been reused!

  5. I'm way late to this playthrough, but…

I don't dislike the ending all that much. I mean, it happened in a dream, but it happened nonetheless – it's like the Island Koholint in Link's Awakening.

SMB2 gets referred to more often than you might think – it invented the Bob-Omb, after all. 😉 But the SMB2 stuff is also really popular in spin offs, like the Paper Mario and Mario & Luigi games.

  6. I notice this is almost a year ago, but I wanted to come out and express my gratitude for the warm, wildly entertaining, optimistic, and interesting content your channels have always produced. I've been systematically watching all your videos, regardless of how trivial or "weird" the content seems because I get a rush of nostalgia, learn about new and interesting games, and just plain feel better because I've watched the daily Beard Bros, or Completionist episode.

Honestly, all the channels and experiments your team has put out there have shared a single crucial characteristic. It's what I associate with Jirard Khalil, and his creative work. It's an opptimistic, warm feeling that just feels good. Like a cup of cocoa on a cold day. So, I would personally encourage you to do whatever you feel you want to try. But I also want you to know that your contribution has already enriched the lives of many, mine included.

The world is full of enraged, emotionally voiltile children, eager to punish anyone and everyone who dares to be happy when they're so miserable. You can't please them until they give it up and heal. Just keep offering them your cocoa, and maybe it'll help them someday.

  7. Hey, Jirard, so, you deal with a lot of depression, and I've notice you deal with a lot of anxiety as well- I was wondering if you could please help- do you have any suggestions for up and coming youtubers who also deal with depression and anxiety?

You and Alex have inspired me to make my own let's play (not on this channel- I haven't made the channel yet but I'm preparing a lot of stuff first), but I am somebody who also face depression, but more overwhelmingly, generalized anxiety disorder, which can engulf my life and everything I do. However, I really want to make this channel because I wanna do what I love, and I want to share what I love-! I'm a perfectionist, so I'm working really hard on the channel before I even get it started but, knowing how anxiety and depression works, I know I'm going to come across some huge hurdles, hurdles like what you face. Do you have any suggestions for a person like me?

  8. Dude, you put out a ridiculous amount of content.  That in and of itself is a huge accomplishment.  I'll be honest, there are some Completionist episodes I don't really like all that much, but that's more because I didn't like or am not interested in the game.  It has nothing to do with you and the people involved with TWVG.  You always have something nice to say about even the crappiest games, and I can respect that a lot.  There is too much negativity on the internet, and I'm glad you guys are around to be a counterpoint to that.  Do I always agree with you on stuff?  Nope.  But you're the one with the channel making people happy, and I'm just some schmuck on the other side of a comment box.

You shouldn't be so hard on yourself, man.  Just keep doing what you're doing.  You have many more friends & allies than you realize.

  9. Jirard, man. You cant beat yourself over the hate. Hate is inevitable. With praise, comes hate. Hell, all of my videos get FLAMED. When you read a negative comment, you just have to laugh, and move on with life.

  10. FF7… yep, there was controversy involved.

FF7 and FF8 are the love it or hate it games. FFX-2 is the must hate it game (even though I personally enjoyed it).

Like it or not, when you review Final Fantasy, you are going to get argument mountains.

Also, the most generic name is not Brian Johnson, Jirard. It is Thomas Smith… i hate my name.

  11. Watching this video up till 20 minutes, would like to give my 2 cents on YouTube. I want to really have a career in gaming, whether it is YouTube, Twitch, ProGaming, whatever. I think the real problem small channels won't grow as well is because people will always go to the people they subscribed to, and won't really give small channels much thought. Negativity does have a part in it, but people usually have to get out of their way to find a video of some guy/gal playing a game, trying to grow, and shuts him/her down. I want to do this, and I am not gonna give my channel out (it is a different one, this is just my commenting channel I guess you can say.) because I want to attempt to grow with no advertising, but that was my 2 cents. If anyone wants to talk about it, comment the thread and let us discuss, would really like to hear what other people think (if people already discussed it sorry, haven't looked down at the comments yet.)

  12. Over the years i never play FF7 and will never play because its too hard for me. But I could never figured out the plot of the story. I really like video you post about FF7 how deep you went in to not one but the entire series of FF7 franchise story.

  13. You know, ffvii month was the reason I came to this channel. I loved your analysis and the in depth review. I was on mat pats channel and he gave and link to it, and it was great. Totally cried during the crisis core vid.

  14. You bring up a lot of good points because unfortunately youtube and the internet in general is getting filled with more haters and those want to bring others down because they are behind a monitor and don't have to face people in real life.

  15. Lol, if i found Jirard's email or facebook i'd do anything but criticize, i'd be happy to be able to get a chance to tell one of my favorite youtubers how awesome he is, that he cheers me up with his content when i have a bad day and that i hope he'll create awesome content for us with Greg and Alex for many years to come. Man that'd be awesome. Altho i have a feeling he reads the comments occassionally and finds comments like mine and is happy to see he's brightening up someone's day.

  16. The dream thing never bothered me, but it was something I found out about when I was a little kid and games barely had endings anyway.
Apparently the Satellaview version of Mario 2 is presented as a sequel though, and presents Subcon as a real-ish place.  I'm not totally up on the details though.

  17. I hate the vocal minority.
As for the ending, I don't see whats wrong with it. Older arcade style games were designed to be replayed, and the idea of it was all a dream implies you could once again experience the same thing without turning back time to the start of the adventure. To me I had the same dream again, is better then,  oh the princess was kidnapped again, time to save her.

  18. I think the dream ending is perfect. Miyamoto knew this wasn't really a Mario game in the sense that it didn't start off as his idea (though he and his crew had a huge hand in making Doki Doki Panic), and he probably knew he wanted to take Mario back to the roots set by SMB1, so it was easier to just explain this all as a dream.

  19. To be honest I love how the show is. You should do Defend It! more. It was awesome to watch. A great defend it would be to have egoraptr on and he can bash something from sequilitis and you could defend it. That would be neat. Keep up the good work man, love the show and all the shows you guys make.

  20. Only babies and people who suck at this game play as Peach, play as Toad and only Toad for the real game. Also, bring back Defend It! and FF7 month was good, but FF6 month would have been better.

  21. I feel they didn't ditch Mario Bros. 2. If you think about it, Shy Guys are in many games after MB2. They are practically a staple enemy in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island. And they are used a lot in the Mario Party games.
Also, in the credits, you see the bomb character is listed as Bob-omb, they are also used all over Mario games after MB2.

  22. Final Fantasy VII Month was maybe the best thing I ever saw on your show. Not only did you approach it like a documentary, but you still had the classic format we're used to at it's core. I have never played Final Fantasy VI, nor did I really plan on it, but watching you and Greg and all of your guests talk about it really made me want to get it and play it. Honestly, I could find some flaws with some of your other reviews. Not many, but some. Final Fantasy VII Month was perfect. Literally perfect. Also Greg yelling "OH SNAP" was the best thing ever. 😀
