Games of Thrones was a hugely successful show. The success of such magnitude even makes the body double and stuntmen of the show a well-known figure. Andrew Dunbar who acted as a body double for Alfie Allen a.k.a. Theon Greyjoy too was one such figure. However, in heartbreaking news, it has been confirmed that Dunbar passed away at his Belfast home on Christmas Eve.

Dunbar was in his 30’s and the cause of his death has not been revealed. He also featured on TV shows like Line of Duty and Derry Girls. Tributes poured in for Dunbar from all quarters.

Actor Alfie Allen too wrote on his Instagram:

“Andrew Dunbar was an actor who was also a stand in as Theon on ‘GoT’. Extremely shocked and saddened to hear of his passing. To lose a loved one so young, I can only imagine what his family are going through. RIP Andrew xxx,”

Back award nominee and his co-star Andrew McClay was also quoted saying

“Everyone always wanted Andrew. There was just something about him that was special. People always felt good around him, happy, excited for the day’s work and there was always a lot of fun when he was around.”

Pamela Smyth, Head of Crowd Makeup for Game of Thrones, remembered Dunbar:

“Even among the thousands of extras that came through the crowd room on Thrones – Andrew always stood out. Always professional and mannerly with a big broad beaming smile. A beautiful soul – he will be missed by all the GOT family.”

Dunbar appeared on the final three seasons of the show, beginning with the season six’s epic episode ‘Battle of the Bastards‘. The news of his passing has really broken our hearts.
