It may not possess quite the same quantity of content as Netflix, but NOW TV is nevertheless home to some truly impeccable drama series.
Your binge watching needs are well catered for with a roster that includes some of the greatest ever box-set offerings.
This list only includes the creme-de-la-creme currently available on the streaming service and narrowing it down to a prime shortlist was no easy feat. There are plenty of other quality shows that narrowly missed out on a spot but which are still very much worth checking out if you are a NOW TV subscriber.
These include dark dystopian drama The Handmaid’s Tale, gripping financial drama Billions and complex sci-fi epic Westworld, so the following six must be pretty exceptional…
Game Of Thrones
Game Of Thrones is currently back on NOW TV in its entirety right through until the end of August. As the countdown to the eight and final season slowly ticks down, there’s still plenty of time to undertake a complete rewatch of George R R Martin’s epic saga.
Revel at every twist, turn and unsuspected death as the ongoing battle for the Iron Throne plays out across seven stunning seasons.
The Sopranos
David Chase’s peerless crime drama remains the benchmark for box set television. The entire show is on NOW TV and across 86 magnificent episodes, the story of New Jersey mobster Tony Soprano and his two vastly different families remains as gripping as ever.
James Gandolfini’s masterful turn as Tony deserves to be revisited at any given opportunity.
Twin Peaks
David Lynch’s surreal murder-mystery masterpiece is on NOW TV in its entirety and if you’ve never watched his small-town tale unfold in all it’s bizarre glory before, then there’s no better time to give it a try. It’s an eerie, complex, and purposefully obscure TV experience with a tone and style all of its own.
Deadwood
David Milch’s immersive western series is a profane and utterly brutal look on the ravages of frontier life. Deadwood is blessed with numerous great performances but it’s Ian McShane who steals the show as iconic saloon owner Al Swearengen.
It’s an unflinching and unromantic take on the old West and the colourful anti-heroes who helped forge it.
Gomorrah
If you’re a fan of crime shows, this dark and brooding offering charting life in the Neapolitan underworld is well worth seeking out. Life among the Camorra is presented in haunting detail, the private lives of its members shown in tangent with the day-to-day brutality of their business.
It’s a prime candidate for any fans of The Sopranos who are looking for a new series to sink their teeth into.
Patrick Melrose
This five-part miniseries sees Benedict Cumberbatch playing a drug-addled English toff plagued by the demons of his past. Based on the books by Edward St Aubyn, each episode depicts a specific time in Patrick’s life and examines how it contributed to his current predicament.
It’s an engrossing show made even better by Cumberbatch’s stunning turn at its centre.
