Late last year it was claimed that a massive Game of Thrones actor is the favourite to take the gig.
Odds Shark reported back in October – via MyBookie – that Kit Harington is the one to beat.
It checks out: with Game of Thrones filming already wrapped ahead of the final season airing this spring, he could presumably fit it in his schedule – plus he’s a known fan of the genre.
But at 32, is he already too old to front a movie about a reportedly âyoungerâ Batman?
Whatever the case, his reps denied rumours that began last summer claiming he was already in negotiations.
Still, he said back in 2015 that he would âlove to play Batmanâ, provided he could âcamp him up againâ.
Noah Centineo – who starred in Netflix smash To All The Boys Iâve Loved Before – was also recently rumoured to be involved.
Chatter began when he shared on Instagram that he was at Warner Bros HQ for a fitting, soon after The Fanboy Podcast revealed behind-the-scenes whispers that he was being considered.
Jack O’Connell – formerly of British smash Skins – has been rumoured for the role as well.
Decisions will presumably have to be made soon: The Batman has now been slapped with a release date of June 25, 2021.
Affleck tweeted: âExcited for #TheBatman in Summer 2021 and to see @MattReevesLA vision come to life.â
He had portrayed the iconic character in Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice, Suicide Squad and Justice League.
His IMDb page still lists him as an actor in Justice League 2, but there are no known plans for this to be made any time soon.
