I have a question for you if you don't mind:
I am building a similar coffee table and I too only use basic hand tools.
My biggest challenge has been getting perfectly flat and level surfaces. ESPECIALLY on the legs. I can't seem to saw them by hand perfectly they are always at a tiny angle and then getting them level using hand tools is a night mare.
Any advice?
Wood is the medium-you are the master.
Looked like you were using ash for the legs. I've worked with it and one it has dried it can be a real pain to cut. It can be really dense. I guess that's why they use it for baseball bats. Made me laugh at the end sneaking in to throw out the couch. LOL! Nice job as usual.
