We may have said goodbye to Tywin Lannister on Game of Thrones, but don’t worry–Charles Dance is heading to The Crown next.

The Crown is going to have one hell of a third season considering the cast that is on board. So far, the likes of Tobias Menzies, Olivia Colman, and Helena Bonham Carter are already set for major leading roles. The latest addition, however, is Game of Thrones alum Charles Dance. Many of you will remember him as the relentless and cruel Tywin Lannister.

Unfortunately, we have no idea who Dance will be playing in the third season of The Crown. But given how epic he was in Game of Thrones, we know it’s going to be amazing. Some speculation has been made as to who Dance’s character could be, at least according to Digital Spy.

Rumor has it that he could be playing Prince Charles’ great-uncle, Lord Louis Mountbatten. Let us give you a quick history on who Mountbatten was. He was in the British Navy and died in 1979 when he was assassinated by the Irish Republic Army.

According to CinemaBlend, when comparing pictures of Dance and Mountbatten, there is a strong resemblance there. So, naturally, it won’t come as a surprise if The Crown decides to go down this route with Dance.

After all, they’ve done an absolutely amazing job thus far with the casting across three seasons (seriously, they are on onto something). If Dance does indeed get this role, he would replace Greg Wise who played Mountbatten in a total of 9 episodes.

But does it really matter who Dance plays? We know whatever the role may be, he’s gonna kill it. Let’s just refer back to his days as Tywin Lannister as proof. There is no other man who can instill fear in others in the way Dance can while portraying characters.

It appears that Dance has been keeping quite busy since his days on Game of Thrones and The Crown lucked out by bringing him on board for season 3. According to CinemaBlend, he currently has 10 projects in production!

We look forward to learning who Dance will be playing–it’s going to be amazing either way. And even though there is no season 3 premiere date for The Crown as of yet, we are counting down the days until it returns.
