  1. Man, the show demolished Stannis. Just torpedoed the character. I didn't expect it. He was not perfect but there was something about him that readers and viewers respected and connected with. Then he murdered his daughter, watched her burn, on the show. Despicable, even in the context of the show. What a waste of an intriguing character. Sad.

  2. Notice how in the beginning of Stannis's scenes, everytime he appears the environment is dark with bright warm colours that give a sense of union around the flames; then it becomes more and more visible until in his last scenes the environment is fully visible and with cold colors only, like a flame that slowly fades.

  3. He was a dick, honestly. A sociopath zealot and a dick. Yeah, he was really cool at some points, but he wasn't the best bet for king of Westeros, I couldn't see him on the iron throne in a million years. He has no regard for the lives of his men or the people his men kill, he obsessed over some retarded religion that has a hard-on for burning people for no reason, and he was just a general fucking asshole to everyone around him. He was cool, but I was glad to see him die.

  4. I know a lot of people were upset that he went out the way he did, but IMO Stannis' arc was one of the most well done in the whole series. He comes off as a pragmatist but in reality he's driven onwards by a belief in his own destiny. The Iron Throne is his by right, we hear him say, and he's correct. But it's this same blind faith that leads him down the ultimate path to destruction., to lead a starving, horseless and outnumbered army to the gates of Winterfell where any sane commander would have withdrawn. He was, indeed, a man driven by duty-but eventually to the point of sheer madness.
