Game of Thrones has come and gone — and while season 8 left much to be desired — the show will forever be remembered as one of, if not the most successful HBO franchises, and a cultural phenomenon to boot.

Game of Thrones will join a coveted squad, squeezing in on the totem pole somewhere between The Sopranos, Six Feet Under, and Angels in America. Thrones attracted millions of viewers spreading demographics, as the show even managed to get the “I-don’t-like-all-that-medieval-stuff” folks on board.

While several actors can thank Game of Thrones for kickstarting their careers, Emilia Clarke (known for portraying Daenerys Targaryen) got to play one of the series’ most beloved — and then most divisive — characters, opposite Kit Harington’s Jon Snow. Let’s just say — after nearly a decade in the role — the actress is still upset over how fans responded to the epic’s conclusion.

Emilia Clarke sat down for an interview to discuss her most recent movie, Last Christmas, during which she revealed the Game of Thrones Christmas special she would love to see come about. While this is obviously a pipedream, Clarke got a chance to create a new story for her character (no matter how outlandish).

Emilia Clarke talks Christmas and ‘Game of Thrones’

During her interview with Elle Magazine, Emilia Clarke talked about her Game of Thrones co-stars and even told us what gifts she would consider buying for Sophie Turner and Jason Mamoa, before revealing what would be a great gift to the Game of Thrones fanbase: more content to compensate for the recent finale debacle. Clarke said:

Jason, I would get him some kind of climbing thing, he just loves it,’ she said. ‘Or just a thousand kegs of Guinness. He just loves it.

Then Sophie, I think I would get her something for her new home with her boy [Joe Jonas], some kind of cutlery because they entertain a lot. Something for the house.

After discussing gifts for co-stars, she discussed a Game of Thrones Christmas special, and what such an episode should entail. Clarke’s story includes the following narrative:

I’d like to see the Starks show me some love, bring me back from the dead. Let’s all get on a dragon and sail off to Lapland

In Christmas spirit, it seems that Clarke has a happily ever after ending in mind for Game of Thrones; maybe appearing in Last Christmas got the best of her! While we would all love to see more Game of Thrones content, such a story would likely never come to be. However, you can’t fault a girl for dreaming, right?

Game of Thrones currently has prequels in development, yet it will be quite some time until audiences return to the world George R.R. Martin has created. Unfortunately, shows akin to Game of Thrones won’t be popping up anytime soon.
