Knockputs during knights’ fights are very rare, but when they happen, they look very impressive!

  1. Are any of these people aware how incredibly stupid this makes them look? Hit the other person with your round end sword or small circle shield. What is the point in having the octagon ring with the ropes???

  2. As an avid medieval/ renaissance armed combat fan I find this kinda pointless .. By using lightweight blunted swords as primary hand weapons they've basically taken all effective technique away.
First swords were generally worn as back up weapons to be used when your primary weapon, spear halberd or other, was lost or broken.
Secondly slashing with a sword while effective against unarmoured peasants against chainmail or armour it is basically useless, instead you'd want to instead stab attempting to punch thru chainmail or piercing armour at the weaker points of the joints, with a blunted lightweight sword this is even more pointless obvisously that wouldn't be safe in this 'sport' hence why most effective blows in M1 come from the heavier shield.
Things like maces picks hammers and axes would be the preference when fighting in close combat against an armoured foe as cutting slashes are pointless while a strong concussive blow or puncturing point of a pick are still fairly effective against even the most heavily armoured foe.

These are not in anyway period proper combat simulations instead purely in order to conform to the image of a knight in popular culture, with a sword in hand, while for obvious safety reasons all effective attacks with a sword or more appropriate weapon are forbidden these matches are silly sword slapping contests until someone either trips punches or shield bashes the other into submission.

Which is too bad As there is a great deal of technique and skill involved in armed combat None of which is on display here.
