the most common comment I get about this movie is that we liked it buy we are disappointed in it WOW.

Did I missed it or you never mention the Porgs? I was ready to hate them before the movie even started, but it was… Ok. Not so intrusive or cringy, I guess?

I honestly felt there were elements of this movie that were truly good..that said I didnt think many of those elements were used correctly and I disagree with a lot of the direction of the film, also as a side tangent, to Hell with the lightsaber changes in terms of how they work etc.

I can’t imagine that half the population (the male half) doesn’t appreciate having man hating feminist propaganda rubbed in the face for 2 & 1/2 hours at $20 a ticket. When they thought they were going to maybe recapture their childhood by escaping off to a science fiction space Cowboy Samurai Fantasy Movie. I certainly didn’t think I was going to pay for my family to sit through 2 & 1/2 hours of Femin-nazi Daddy Hate Porn Besides character assassination and the meticulous murder of all possible alpha male personality types, bad writing, zero logic, a convoluted story, and editing done by Cuisinart. It’s Kathleen Kennedy’s Man Hating Feminist Nazi wet dream. And the Leia Superman scene was beyond stupid. with zero character archs, and the tasteless representation of a classic hero as a coward, and then his death. All while teaching my daughter that just being female makes her superior that she’ll never have to work, endure, struggle, earn, practice, study, train, cultivate or develop a single thing, because she’s just superior to people whom have worked for years to become masters, but she’s just better just because she is female. And I don’t see why they can’t can not have a strong male and a strong female protagonist (like 4, 5, and 6 had) Seriously what am I supposed to tell my son? Oh sorry you were born at the wrong time you’re not allowed to have a good guy strong moral male role models anymore, that time had past. Only females get to be the smart and strong protagonist good guys? And Rey is such a blatant Mary Sue she even defeated Luke during her 2 out of 3 Lessons that LUKE Taught her. I’m done Stars Wars. Again I certainly would not have paid 50 dollars in ticket prices alone too see a movie If I had known my family would have to sit through a 2 &1/2 hour Man Hating, Femin-nazi Marxist Lecturing Man Hate Rally.

finally saw it. hated the finn-rose plotline. I like both the characters but hated the casino thing. I actually would have been happy if finn did die. it would have been unexpected! I think it would have creates more tension to just have the rebels trapped on this ship that they know is doomed. what's the plan? do they start asking who betrayed them? how are they tracking us through lightspeed? and the island caretakers….dumb and didn't like them! the crystal foxes…loved.

Snoke is Plagueis the wise force essence possessing Darth Vaders body. Plagueis has the power to cheat death by seducing his apprentice's into become completely consumed by hate and the obsessed with power. His MO is to get them to the point of killing him to over through him. That is his opportunity to force jump into their bodies possessing them like a parasite to a host.
1. Plagueis jumped into Palpatine body becoming Darth Sidious.
2. Sidious jumped force into Darth Vader body becoming Snoke.
3. Snoke has now jump force into Kylo body possessing him, becoming a new incarnation of Plagueis's force essences yet to be revealed .
He will lay dormant in Kylo's body assuming the identity of Kylo using him in oder to seduce and corrupt Rey with lies and romance into joining him in the dark side so he can eventually manipulate her to assassinate him so he can force jump in to her undamaged body which was the original master plan with Anakin, but as Vader he had done so much damage to his body that Sidious jumped into Vader’s body to use to manipulate a younger host like Luke.
Snoke and Vader both have the same burn and scars to the head and the deformation cause by being struck at point blank range by force lightning from Sidious before throwing him to his death. They never showed Vader transcendent like Yoda or Obi Wan. We see him pass out which leads us to believe he died. But we know Luke didn't leave him behind because we've watch the scene of Luke cremating Vader's suit. What if the suit was empty and he was able to secretly saved Vader's body from dying thinking he's saving his father Anakin, who then after time of being possessed by Plagueis's force essence eventually revealing himself as Snoke?
Since he couldn't get Luke, he targeted Kylo who's now done some damage to his body from the Chewbacca's blaster and the lightsaber wounds. Rey is the reincarnation of Anakin's force essences into Rey who is not a Jedi, she is THE CHOSEN ONE which is why Anakin’s lightsaber called out to her and why she’s so strong with all the force abilities that Anakin and Vader had. Rey mustn't kill Plagueis's new incarnation in Kylo when he reveals himself to her by killing Kylo because that will create the opportunity for Plagueis to jump force into Rey’s body. I believe Anakin's force ghost will present itself to Rey exposing how Plageuis is cheating death by force jumping into Kylo and informing her how she will need to save Kylo by preforming some sort of force essence exorcism using the non-lethal ultimate powerful force of love.

OF COURSE They needed a strong female character. because who cares if you make a good movie. as long as the feminists dont complain.(Notice the hair) While they continue to take money from shit bags like harvey weinstein "male feminist" is code for "beta predator using a different path to sex"

OMG you nailed this review! So confused leaving this movie. I feel like I inherently love it because it's a Star Wars movie but I want to hate it from the things they did with some characters as you pointed out. I am just really conflicted right now, I'm going to have to see it again (#HailCorporate), hopefully a second viewing helps clear things up.

Snokes death is basically Darth Mauls death in Phantom even tho he survives in the cartoons that are apparently canon. Snoke even got cut in half lol so I wouldn't bet against seeing Snoke in Rebels.

I think The Last Jedi was one of the best Star Wars movies since the original trilogy, but I definitely see where you are coming from with your criticisms, and I even agree with a lot of it. I was not nearly as disappointed by Luke's death or the fact that they turned him into a jaded, grumpy old man, but I do agree that there was a lot of things he did and said that felt out of character for him. Then again, he doesn't even make my top ten in terms of favourite characters, so perhaps I would feel differently if I were more attached to him xD

My biggest disappointment was Phasma for sure. I was so hyped to see her fight scene, and it was over in like, three seconds. Very disappointing. Overall though, I absolutely loved the movie.

That was not Luke. It was so stupid.

My fav reviewer on YouTube. I like that Rey left Lonely Jedi Island of her own accord. Basically telling Luke that he is wrong. Versus when Luke left Yoda's swamp to "go rescue his friends". Of all the central force users it seems that Rey has the most agency when it comes to her actions. I imagine Kylo Ren would post "Fulfill your DESTINY!" on Rey's Facebook page and she would just respond with "lol"

I thought I would like Rey's origin as a nobody but it ended up feeling hollow. Through out this series I've cared more about Finn. His on the run story and arc of redemption is interesting and feels human. I felt genuinely sad when I thought he was gonna die. I don't like Luke's ending but this film wasn't bad. The Last Jedi was statement by Disney that this is their's and they intend to end the Skywalker saga which I'm not thrilled about as a fan. However I think I would be a lot more accepting if they had something big and separate going on with the franchise accept the movies. Like many I grew up loving the games and some books. Disney should consider keeping alive legends canon and step up the video games because there is so much money to be made beyond fps.

The biggest problem with TLJ is the total lack of background or development of the relationship between Luke and sea cow, other wise a brilliant piece of filmmaking.

They kinda butchered both characters of Kylo and Luke.

I personally love Kylo. Now I think you may be too harsh on your analysis of 'the betrayal', I think it really freaked Ben out and pushed him over the edge. My problem is that it doesn't sound like Luke's character. This is a guy who tried saving his father, an evil enforcer of a dictator. Yet he didn't try saving his young nephew?

Kylo was so interesting with his conflict, yet this movie destroyed everything. The main things are: Rey's backstory, Luke, Snoke, and Kylo.

I had an amazing theory and I read so many other theories that make this movie look like a joke. I'm not pleased with their choices whatsoever.

People have too many expectations.._.._.All Disney needed was a little snoke story…__the Rey mirror image as Ben Kenobi. Less casino world and for the love of the force no Luke death force ghost till ep 9. We get 3 minor changes awesome but now we know ep 9 will just be absolute trash as the following 2 separate planned trilogies shouldn't appeal to diehard fans but unfortunately u can't go wrong making star war movies kaching.

I think if they were going to treat Snoke as such a throw away character, they'd of been better off setting up the First Order being run by the remnant of the old elite, stuffy generals and bureaucrats like Grand Moff Tarkin. It would've made more sense then that Kylo, being youthful and driven, as well as a force user (something which the bureaucrats may not have appreciated), ascends to his rightful place of power… To dominate and control the Galaxy. On a side note, Hux is a terrible character, more like an angry cretinous school kid than a competent leader of a galactic force… The acting for Hux is appalling also… They could've set it up where Hux was favoured by the ruling elite, more so than Kylo, becuase he was more in line with their expectations… The implication could've been that Hux is being groomed to ascend to the higher echelon's of power within the First Order, whereas Kylo is regarded more as an enforcer, and therefore not suited for strategic command. I think this would've provided a more tangible reason for the discord between them, and ultimately for Kylo's ruthless ascension, taking control of the First Order by force. They could've even set it up so that Kylo, who is actually a proficient combatant, commanding the respect of his troops, convinces Phasma that he's the right man for the job, and she, commanding the loyaty of the army, assists in his coupe… This way Phasma would've had a much more crucial, and essential, role to play in the overall arch of the narrative than what we ultimately get… A shiny, but pointless character! 😉

The movies was what Yoda was saying learning from failure..everyone failed in this movie. Next movies they learn from it..

I disagree about Luke, I think the things you point out about him are quirks he picked up along in his life. He's a little off, like Yoda and Obi wan. I love the nuance that LJ introduced with Luke, Ren, Kylo, and Rose. Especially when the codebreaker shows Finn and Rose that these arms dealers that they want to hate so much are supplying both sides.

kylo in the movie telling rey about parents roles…he sounds like a spoiled brat. But then again, Snoke was implanting seeds of doubt into kylo since he was a youngling because snokes wants the Vader line to succeed and be powerful.

Warning, reasonable fan rant below on my biggest gripe below (sorry):

Luke's attitude the entire film. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt by saying I understand he's grieving over his failures and I did not have a problem with this aspect. With that being said CMON MAN REALLY?! You spend 3 films fighting the Empire, confronting Vader (YOUR FATHER), and managing to turn one of the most evil beings in the galaxy back to the light and allow him to redeem himself, but you go to kill your Nephew because of the darkness inside of him???

This part I absolutely as a fan could not wrap my head around. What threat could Ben Solo up until that point have possessed that would outrank Vader in any way shape or form? You can find the light in a man that is basically 80% cyborg, burned your adoptive family, murders people in cold blood, killed your mentor and father figure Obi Wan, blew up your Sister's home planet, tortured you best friend, killed the remaining jedi, and SLICED OFF YOUR GOD DAMN HAND…..BUT you can't find it in your Nephew?

There's a reason why Luke is always tied to the word "Hope". He's a character that despite everything he faced stood by his family and friends. Despite his flaws as a character he always pushed forward. I just can't buy his attitude in TLJ. Not a bad film, but not great.

The jedi never tried to own the foce they only battled against the dark side.There were many other foce users in the galaxy.

I hear a lot of people saddened by Luke's passing, but he potentially could be an even bigger influence on events now that he's become one with the Force.

When that Force-sensitive kid showed up at the end, I was waiting for Luke's spirit to show up and offer to teach the kid. I think it would be a great way to use Luke's attainment of Jedi nirvana to show him accepting his role as teacher and training new pupils all over the galaxy.
