HBO is on a roll with The Last of Us, its adaptation of Naughty Dog’s zombie survival video game. The ratings are great and response from both fans and critics has been fantastic. Nothing can stop them now!

Except maybe the biggest television event of the year. Usually, new episodes of The Last of Us become available on HBO Max at the same time as they air linearly on HBO: each Sunday at 9:00 p.m. EST/8 CST. But this Sunday, the Kansas City Chiefs vs. the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LVII, and people may not have much bandwidth left over for the continuing adventures of Joel and Ellie.

Accordingly, HBO will release The Last of Us Episode 5, “Endure and Survive,” on HBO Max at 9:00 a.m. EST/8 CST this Friday, February 10. So it’ll be available to stream that morning. The linear broadcast will air as usual that Sunday night.

The fourth episode of The Last of Us, “Please Hold My Hand,” was the first to end with a cliffhanger. On their way to Wyoming, Joel and Ellie took a detour through Kansas City, and are currently regretting it. That city’s quarantine zone has long since fallen to a group of civilians who now hold dominion over the area, and they’re willing to engage in some shady behavior to survive.

They’re also on the lookout for someone named Henry, whom Joel and Ellie seem to have met at the end of the episode. Will they get along with Henry? Will they be enemies? What freaky thing was under the floor in the Kansas City QZ? All of these questions will be answered (and answered earlier than usual) in “Endure and Survive.”
