Considering things like that and the obvious that you have pointed out I believe the NK is himself if not Valaryian then the dragonglass has given him the magic to. Which is another possibility.

Gendry is flying under everyone's radar. Gendry is of the Targaryen bloodline based on their family linkage through Orys Baratheon. King's blood has largely been linked to Valyrian magic. Baratheon's have Valyrian blood in them.

Barring a surprise appearance of another dragon, if there is a third rider, then I think it would be Bran warging into and controlling Viserion.

I always felt that there wouldn't be riders. I thought dany was the dragon and the dragons themselves were the heads. But I Guess that was wrong lol
