Game of Thrones: The Last Watch aired last night on Sky Atlantic on Now TV and the two-hour documentary gave fans amazing insight into what it took to make season eight.

One fascinating aspect, in particular, is the stunt department and what goes into choreographing the intricate fight sequences.

Vladimir Furdik is perhaps best known as playing the Night King but he is also a seasoned stunt performer.

The Czech actor is featured prominently in The Last Watch and it’s clear he really loves what he does, even when things get quite difficult.

The Last Watch director Jeanie Finlay told Metro.co.uk that the stunt people who worked on Game of Thrones were ‘extraordinary’ at what they do.

‘The stuntmen were extraordinary, as soon as I saw them building their own cardboard boxes and then falling off a tower, I just it was insane,’ she said.

‘It’s not that it doesn’t hurt them, they just know how to take the pain – that’s amazing. I don’t meet stuntmen in my everyday life.’

Jeanie explained that she was in awe of the ‘scale and the ambition of it and just the size of the crew’.

‘There are over 2,000 crew members. It’s like a city, raising a world. The night shoots were a thing to behold.

‘When we just to drive on to set when the battle of Winterfell was being filmed and their pumping the smoke and they’re setting the world on fire – and it’s literally on fire – and 500 extras dressed up and all the undead – it’s extraordinary.

‘You feel like you’re watching it already.’

On working with Vladimir Furdik or, Vlad as she calls him, Jeanie says he loved meeting fans.

‘When we went to Spain and Vlad spoke to the fans in Seville, that’s when I realised how big it is,’ she said.

‘I loved seeing Vlad greet the fans and being so bashful about it.

‘He was like “oh I wonder if they know who I am” and I was like “of course they know who you are, you’re the Night King!”’

Game of Thrones: The Last Watch is available to watch on Now TV.
