Things are not looking good for Luc Besson’s sci-fi epic Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets. The expensive film was obliterated at the domestic box office in its opening weekend, falling in fifth place with only $17 million against a reported $180 million production budget. Considering the weight Besson’s name carries with sci-fi fans, many may be surprised to hear that his most recent outing had that much trouble finding an audience. However, there were actually quite a few warning signs that Valerian would fail. Here are the real reasons why Valerian was an intergalactic disappointment at the box office…

I loved it!!!
It flopped because no one had heard of it. I watched it and really liked it, so I tried asking friends and co-workers what they thought about it. I probably asked close to a dozen people, and not a single one even knew the movie existed. I don't know what they did with the advertising budget, but whatever it was, it was obviously BADLY misspent.
Valerian was visually and thematically a mix of Avatar, Star Wars, and Star Trek. Still better than Justice League
This movie was actually funny and interesting really good 😎
From France, what'd you expect?
I finally just watched it. It was a GORGEOUSLY done movie, however the acting and writing sucked :/ Its such a shame. I would have loved to see it IMAX just for the visuals but the content was definitely lacking.
And yet all those Superhero movies shite make millions??…
The main reason this movie sucked at box office was because the Shingouzs had mouths. Shingouzs speak through their trump, godammit!
looks pretty, but i won't invest myself in it. I don't like the lead characters design one bit.
I love Cara Delevingne but holy shit this movie sucks so bad. The main character sounded like a douche and a huge nerd at the same time. Cara seemed so empty and the overall storyline sucked
It's a class Sci-Fi film. If you liked The Fifth Element you'll like this. And if you don't like The Fifth Element, then you have something very wrong with you…!
I enjoyed the movie. Had 0 expectation.
Maybe cast real actors/actresses instead of these two ham sandwiches.
The visuals were good, especially the cute blonde. And I'm pretty sure it wasn't a flop on Pirate Bay or RARBG. Those audiences would not have bee accounted for.
Come here because I never heard this movie.
Is that fucking dexter manning
To me, Valerian is like giving all the goodies at the beginning of the movie and pooped up plots at the end
Gee, USA is not the whole, nor the center of the world, you self – absorbed lost ones.
Great Movie!
ive watch the move its good movie
