Game of Thrones prequel House of The Dragon is finally here! The second episode of the show aired earlier this week, and it is every bit as dark, powerful, visceral, disturbing, and stunning to look at, just as George R. R. Martin prophesied. One of the main characters of the show, Rhaenyra Targaryen, played by Milly Alcock, goes through a lot in the most recent episode. This will definitely affect the forthcoming storyline, as implied by the cast and crew of the show in a new behind-the-scenes video from episode 2.

This is what the cast and crew said about Rhaenyra’s transformation in the episode:
Miguel Sapochnik: It seemed very important from the start to have her engaged and involved and interested in the royal politics.
Ryan Condal: This is a long road and it’s a long learning process and you don’t just get everything all at once.
Greg Yaitanes: The events of episode 2 domino into everything that’s gonna happen from there.
Sapochnik: We’re talking about 6 months since Aemma’s death. We wanted to capture the idea that Rhaenyra, in spite of her being made the heir, continued to be the cup bearer with no real change in her life.
Milly Alcock: Everyone kind of resents her, and they question her and belittle her. So it’s a bit confusing I think. She feels very small.
Condal: She still has to study at her dad’s feet. And that doesn’t mean that she suddenly has a voice in the Council, and I think all that stuff is really important for the gradual evolution of Rhaenyra’s character.
