In the premiere titled The Serfsons, Marge’s mother is turned into an Ice Walker, with Homer having to force Lisa to use some illegal magic to afford a cure.
When the King discovers this act of wrongdoing, he kidnaps Lisa – leaving Homer to lead an uprising to save his daughter from the King’s clutches.
Along with the obvious White Walker reference, the episode also featured Ned Flanders head on a pike (a nod to Ned Stark’s beheading) and an alternative reason for sending a raven to Moe’s Tavern.
The classic Bart pranks are back, ladies and gentlemen.
Game Of Thrones actor Nikolaj Coster-Waldau aka Jaime Lannister also voiced Marge’s twin brother in the episode, which takes a cheeky nod to the sibling relationship between Jaime and Cersei in HBO’s fantasy show.
The Simpsons has been poking its nose in current TV mockery recently, after also ribbing The Big Bang Theory for their 30th anniversary.
Speculation over Game Of Thrones however is still a thriving rumour mill, with season 8 apparently set to cost $15 million per episode.
