"she still cares about stefan so much more" no she really doesn't. elena knows about her feelings for stefan and they were in a relationship so obviously she cares about him. but she's also very much aware of her strong feelings for damon, she's just afraid of them, because they're getting more and more intense. stefan is elena's safe harbour. she knows where she's at with him (for the most part). damon can be unpredictable sometimes and is a lot more adventurous and yet she's drawn to that.. to the unknown and being more spontaneous herself. not the small town girl she grew up to be.
Klaus just doesn't want to be alone… He hates being alone.
