Netflix is currently bustling with the hype that our latest love âThe Witcherâ has created. Released on December 20th, 2109, starring the crush of women of all ages, Henry Cavill, the show started winning all hearts almost immediately. Many of us know that the show is an adaptation of the book series of the same title by Andrzej Sapkowski. However, the knowledge that its game is also viral isnât as common for most of us. Its availability in the form of a book and a game prior to the release of the series had made it popular among the audience even before its release.
BUT, has this trending series gained enough fame to compete with our all-time love, âGame of Thronesâ? I think not!
âGame of Thronesâ, with its vast lands of the Westeros and Essos, the unforgettable characters like Ned Stark, Cersei Lannister, Jon Snow, Varys and Peytr Baelish, and the epic struggle for the Iron Throne, has made a place in the hearts of all its watchers that is quite irreplaceable.
âGame of Thronesâ has the edge of length and completeness over âThe Witcherâ. Also, the world-building capacity we witness in GOT is by far more powerful and expressive than that of âThe Witcherâ. However, what totally wins points for us is how well we can relate to the characters of the show; not the leading but also the lesser important characters. In that sphere, no other show can outstand GOT. In all of its eight seasons, GOT presents before us a wider variety of characters than ever before, and YET, we can somewhat relate with all of them on some level.
Take Hodor for instance. Originally named âWylisâ, he is an ordinary servant of House Stark. He has a disability of speaking, which is a result of one of Brandon Starkâs vision. He can only utter the word he is named after, which is short for âHold the doorâ. Hodor is seemingly someone we tend to overlook in such a vast, intricate setting. But many people can relate even to him. Thatâs the beauty of GOT for you!
On the contrary, letâs talk about Jaskier from âThe Witcherâ. In comparison to Hodor, he is a more significant character in the show. Jaskier follows Geralt like a shadow throughout the whole season and is the closest to a friend Geralt has. And yet we know little about him or his background.
Mainly for these reasons, among many others, we can safely assume that GOT still continues to rule our hearts, regardless of âThe Witcherâ, or any other show.
