SNL have never shied away from pushing boundaries – but Kate McKinnon snogging the face of Game Of Thrones’s Kit Harington while dressed as Theresa May was definitely something we didn’t see coming.

The sketch show and satirical series went all out on the latest push back of the unfolding Brexit debate by having PM Theresa (played by McKinnon) daydream herself into a Sara Barielles music video.

Getting sworn at in the street, having a pigeon poo on her fish and chips and falling into puddles was only the start of the character’s worries as she tried to figure out how to solve Brexit.

But when she’s visited by Sir Winston Churchill himself (played by Kit Harington), things get pretty cray pretty quickly as they waltz around a spotlight-beaming dancefloor – before he takes the cigar out of his mouth and the pair snog the face off each other.

In other completely marvelous but completely bonkers moments, McKinnon whacks on a Union Jack leotard to perform a contemporary dance piece around Sara Barielles’ piano.

At the end of the video, Theresa walks into the Houses Of Parliament to be met by Jeremy Corbyn, who concedes that she managed to achieve the seemingly impossible and fixed Brexit.

(If only it were that simple).

Waking up on the sofa to a tirade of news stories declaring she was incompetent at her job, the PM shrugs it off and yells: ‘F**k you, at least I’m trying.’

The sketch is one of the many crazy situations Kit found himself in as this week’s host on Saturday Night Live, ahead of the final Game Of Thrones season.

On top of playing cigar-chomping Churchill in this sketch (and doing a mighty fine job of it too), the actor proved he was game for a laugh by mocking his Game Of Thrones history, and even strapping on a corset and heels to become a burlesque dancer.

We never thought we’d see the day we saw Jon Snow in nipple tassels, so if that’s possible, maybe anything is possible – including a Brexit deal finally coming to the fore.

There’s no harm in hoping.

Game Of Thrones returns 14 April on HBO.
