I think the debris the guardians fly through is Asgard after it’s been destroyed. The trailer was edited to add back Thor’s missing eye to prevent spoilers. So maybe that entire scene was just for the trailer and won’t be in the full movie?
loki bargains the space gem for the life of the asgardian people, thor tries to attack them knowing they will go to earth and ends up in space crashing into the guardians.

they like to change things in the trailers….there was a scene in the trailer where he had both eyes, but in the movie he didn't.
i have 1 question , in the movie thor has only 1 eye at the end of the movie but in the infinity war trailor he has 2 . how ?
I Think thor will chalange thanos for the fight for the safety of his people,but he will lost the fight and becuz of that he was in the space in infinity war trailer, and after that loki will exchange tesarect cube with the thanos for the safety of asgardian people…will take thanos to earth .(for 3 reason either to take revenge from the avengers or cuz he knows only avenger can fight with thanos. Or maybe while fighting with thor, thonos realizes that there are people on the earth who are undefeated cuz as we know hulk is also in the ship, so thanos will fight both hulk and thor and they both r from earth) and as we know thanos consider himself as a champion of champions, so facing avengers is a big chalange for him
