Filming for the most extensive Game of Thrones battle ever may have wrapped last week but we’re still getting news from its two-and-a-half months shoot. This time, you’ll see three riders charging into battle with… well, we’d better get into the spoilers below!

Yesterday, Davy Orr shared the following leftover video from April 5. As it belongs to the Winterfell battle night shoot, it’s all so dark that the scene is pretty inscrutable, but it’s at least clear enough for us to realize that whatever is happening here is a big spoiler:

(At the risk of killing the ‘Magic of Cinema’ for anyone, I’ll preempt the observation that the riders are not charging at the army but safely passing between their lines: horse charges are achieved through clever camera usage and VFX, not by ‘actually’ trampling stuntmen.)

Apparently, at some point three warriors will ride into battle wielding flaming swords. That sounds like a spoiler of the highest degree—or rather, it would if we knew who these riders were. But we don’t. That doesn’t mean we can’t speculate, though!

Which side are these riders on? Has Beric taught Thoros’s trick to others? Maybe Jon and the Hound? Or could these be Volantene Red Priests who have come to aid Westeros at the behest of Melisandre? And is the sudden orange lighting flash indicative of dragonfire? If we’re really getting three flame sword-wielding heroes riding into battle with a dragon supporting them from above, that may be too epic for me to handle!
