Toby Osmond made headlines last month when rumours started to circulate that he was the latest face to join Game Of Thrones.
However, it seems we have a new movie from the actor to look forward to before we find out if the speculation is true.
Chatting to Metro.co.uk, the star opened up on his new film Stairs, which was directed by Tom Paton and features former Corrie star Shayne Ward.
It’s the first film Shayne will have starred in since leaving the soap, and was thrown in at the deep end when he had to perform some of his own stunts.
Apparently, Toby took quite the beating while the pair filmed a fight scene.
He laughed: ‘So, me and Shayne had a fight scene or two together, I’m quite happy doing my own stunts and stuff.
‘But there was a stunt team on set, so I didn’t want to put them out – that’s my excuse and I’m sticking to it – but we did a bit of fight choreography between us.’
He added: ‘It was so funny because Shayne was supposed to hit me with three different strikes: a kick, a punch and a shoulder hit or something.
‘We did about four or five different takes, and I think out of those five he actually made contact, in three of them!’
Toby cringed at the thought but let out a little chuckle as he continued: ‘I was like, “oh God, what’s he going to hurt this time?”
‘But it was all fine, luckily the costume provided protection, so he didn’t really hurt me, but it was all good because it made it look more realistic.’
That’s because it was, Toby!
But despite the potential bruises, the actor appeared to have an amazing time on set, and even claimed that the film features one of the best scenes he has ever been in.
He said: ‘It’s very interesting because Tom is a very intelligent director. He tries to cast a lot of strong female characters as well, he is switched on when it comes to gender issues.
‘It’s in a war setting and it’s not just a glorified all guns blazing, these are the good guys, these are the bad guys, it’s very much layered and it leaves lots of moral questions for the audience to answer.’
Toby added: ‘My character is a bit of a joker, I said I’m often cast as idiots, and my character is very much the class clown of the mercenary team. But there’s a scene which I’m quite happy to say is the best film scene I have ever done in my life.
‘Which I mean, even before the cameras started rolling, I was like oh my God I’m in Apocalypse Now. Like it was a brilliant scene and I feel so grateful to Tom for getting me involved in doing that.’
Toby then went on to give us all a taste of what we can expect from Stairs, and it sounds incredible.
He teased: ‘It’s a really interesting concept. I read that script so many times before I finally reckoned I understood what was going on.’
Giving us the lowdown, he added: ‘You have got a team of mercenaries, they go on a mission, something happens, someone dies, and then they go back to HQ.
‘But instead of getting to HQ, they get stuck in this stairwell that’s like weird and moving and stuff and then they go outdoor and suddenly they’re back on their mission.’
We think we’d have to read the script a few times too, but it gets even more in-depth.
He explained: ‘Basically, it’s them figuring out why they’re in a time loop, if they need to do something in particular to get out of the time loop to save themselves, and of course our past selves are also there and there are other versions of ourselves.
‘Stairs is the next stair level,’ and our minds are blown.
