Sometimes, an actor’s portrayal of a character is so convincing that audiences forget the distinction between the actor’s real-life persona and their on-screen character. However, that often acts as a detriment to the actor, as it stunts their career growth, and fans go out of their way to express their views about the character. Tom Glynn-Carney, who plays Aegon II in House of the Dragon, is currently facing a similar situation.
Tom Glynn-Carney’s loved ones received hateful texts
Fans of House of the Dragon are a passionate bunch. However, their zeal sometimes crosses boundaries, as in the case of Tom Glynn-Carney. It appears that the hate towards Glynn-Carney’s character Aegon II is now directed towards him and his near ones. He recently took to Instagram and urged the trolls to stop bothering his friends and family on his story. Tom Glynn-Carney addressed the trolls:
“It has been brought to my attention that there are messages being sent to my friends and loved ones that are of a hateful and harmful nature. Please stop. This behaviour is not acceptable. Accounts dedicated to this kind of trolling will be taken down. I think we can often forget the power of words. Spread only love.”
Other House of the Dragon and Game of Thrones stars who have been targeted by fans
This is not the first time Game of Thrones and House of the Dragon stars have faced hatred from fans for playing their character with perfection. Before Tom Glynn-Carney was targeted by trolls, Game of Thrones stars Lena Headey (Cersei Lannister) and Faye Marsay (Waif) faced massive vitriol, the latter even quitting social media because of that. House of the Dragon’s Olivia Cooke (Alicent Hightower), Steve Toussaint (Corlys Velaryon) and Fabien Frankel (Criston Cole) have also faced similar situations while interacting with fans online.
