  1. Umm I read to kill a mockingbird and Tom Robinson dying wasn't as sad as the list made it seem. He was basically a dead man walking because he was a black male accused of rape in the 1930s in Alabama. What did the readers expect?!?!

  2. I know it is not a 'famous' novel, but Mr. Crepsley's death in the Darren Shan Vampire Saga killed me and reduced me to a withering wreck. I couldn't get over that for days.

  3. I'm pretty sure The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas is a middle grade/ya book so it shouldn't qualify on this list. Also, the two main deaths in The Absolutist (also written by John Boyne) were (in my opinion) much sadder
