  1. Hi, there.Do you know why women were called actresses, because of Queen Elizabeth the first. Women were not allowed to act on stage, men and old boys took women's parts.In Elizabethan times women who were born royal or lady or married a gentleman of peerage could only call themselves.Princess ,Duchness , countess or lady. so where a man or men who comprise from the gutter and become king, were not stopped by any protocol that prohibits them calling themselves prince, Duke , Earl , count Baron and sir.These laws have changed these days, in those bygone days, women could not call themselves buy anything other than a rose.G.
