Top 50 Superhero Movies Playlist:

The superhero movie genre is one of the biggest and most popular around, but finding a consensus on the very best superhero movies ever made is tough. Which is why we at Collider Video came together to discuss, debate, and downright fight over the Top 50 superhero movies of all time. The result is an in-depth video countdown series encapsulating everything from Richard Donner’s Superman to Spider-Man: Homecoming, counting down from 50 to 1 (plus honorable mentions) to result in a definitive yet still debatable list of the very best superhero movies ever made. Each video chronicles one film on the list, as various Collider Video staff members, personalities, and experts weigh in with their thoughts on the movie at hand, their initial reaction to seeing it, whether they think it belongs at its assigned place on the list, and how it holds up in the current superhero movie climate.

If you want to see heated, engaging conversations about the best superhero movies ever made, this is your series. We get heated on the merits (and/or shortcomings) of Man of Steel. We discuss the rise and impact of Marvel Studios at length. And we consider whether some of the superhero movies that kicked off the modern era of the genre, like Bryan Singer’s X-Men and Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man, hold up in relation to what came after.

Panelists in Collider’s Top 50 Superhero Movies series include Kristian Harloff, Steve Weintraub, Mark Ellis, Dennis Tzeng, Perri Nemiroff, Emma Fyffe, Thadd Williams, John Rocha, Clarke Wolfe, Mark Reilly, Jon Schnepp, and many, many more. Look for a new episode to roll out on our channel every week day, counting down all the way to #1.

  1. Wow didn't realize people so despised the ending of The Wolverine. So what if it's another guy in a mech suit, it's a super villain staple that hadnt appeared in any X-Men film to that point. I like the idea of "evil Japanese Tony Stark".

  2. When you use the words "i love" to describe movies like Darkman and Super, and Constantine; and immediately turn to call BvS a pile of non sense and rip into it. Takes all these peoples credibility to a new low. Power Rangers (which I liked) is on the list…

Sorry wolfe; that the characters dealing with immense life tragedies weren't "enjoying being Superheroes".

I don't know the main reasons for why Campea left Collider, but I feel like sitting around and listening to the inconsistent, incoherent, and contradictory reviews got old lol

  3. I blame it on marketing. If no one knew the end villain was “doomsday” and they saved that batman fight scene from the trailer i think it would’ve been better. People had already seen two main pieces of the 3rd act which was STUPID.

  4. Bvs had to be light for what reason ??? Superman just destroy metropolis fighting zod….destroyin wayne financial….and snyder did said this Batman has to be brutal to finally see the light and hope for justice league…
But hey i bet funny groot and drax will be top 5 cause its so funny…u people never question marvel…its krazy…

  5. Ok so the top 50 is also including non comic book superhero movies right? Or has there really been that many comic book superhero movies? I already know Avengers, Logan, Captain America Civil War and The Dark Knight will be in the top 10. Because those are movies everybody talks about. I wonder where wonder woman, deadpool, kick ass, x2 xmen united, and guardians of the galaxy vol. 1 will be placed in this list.

  6. Constantine is one of my favorite comic book movies and I think it is underrated and should be on the top 50 list. Tilda Swinton and Peter Stormare knock it out of the park in what little screen time they have in the movie. It's one of my favorites that I just love!

  7. I enjoyed Constantine & Darkman. Still didn't get around to watching BvS yet.
I would have liked to have seen all of Collider's guys commenting on these movies though :-(, otherwise great job guys
