  1. Some of the battles in this period did not even had 1000 men on each side. So this will be a complete misrepresentation of the era with full stack armies. Also there cant be that much unit variety apart from spear/sword/axe/bow. Honestly I think people will find it really hard to go back to such a simple play style after Warhammer.

  2. Shogun 2 didn't have much unit variety, but it is still one of the more popular TW games.
One thing they could do is add variety to army recruitment mechanics – introduce a feudal recruiting system, the fyrd for the Saxon factions, for example. On the other hand, the Dane factions would bolster their armies by attracting more adventurers from across the north sea with promise of glory and riches.

  3. Alfred the great created England. He unified the tribes and reformed the armies and economies of the region and Alfred is the only king in the long history of England to hold the title "the great"

  4. Super excited about this Title! Cant wait to see how CA makes it unique and engaging storywise. Epic backbiting and the right to the throne claims left right and center. Just cant wait! Obviously, killin Picts and Anglo-saxans alike is my scandinavian heritage and birthright.

  5. Kinda a meagre time period. I mean more often than not the vikings were beaten badly when they actually fought.
They mostly pillaged and ran… And rarely fought successful battles.
This whole vikings were a terrifying force is akin to the Spartans being supersoldiers myth.
I mean they pale in actual conquest compared to the Huns or Mongols.
Most vikings were settlers and traders, and took over the local cultures, Normandy, Sicily, etc

Not saying they are bad fights but it's just not a very grand setting. I mean what's next the 3 days war?

Medieval 3 is what everybody wants not this tiny landmass with minor impact on history.
(tiny compared to the whole of Europe and minor in its impact during that timeframe, by 1066 the Norman conquered and reshaped the British Isles like nothing before or after it.

My worry is how is this gonna sell well?
Hardcore fans, no worries but the average player won't know anybody unless they overplay the Vikings card…
I do hope it sells well i'm just not sure for actual pure vikings the scope is just rather small, unless it also contains lands like Normandy, parts of France, Scandinavia, the low countries and with all that why not call it medieval 3?

Also if that isn't included are we gonna have the o so clever horde invasions like in warhammer because those sure as hell are coded to be fun… Ow wait…

  6. Never played Anttila. To date its the only TW game I haven't tried (not counting DLC). Rome 2 was such a let down to me that after I heard about it having issues I just passed.
