The ever-sprawling universe of Game of Thrones recently had two major additions, pushing the boundaries of the known world in the Martinverse. So far we know House of The Dragon is the only prequel in the works so far, and we can expect it to arrive quite early in 2022. However, rumours keep popping up everywhere there are more prequels/spinoffs in talks, and HBO chief Casey Bloys doesn’t deny that.

As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, HBO Max is working on developing two animated shows inspired by Game of Thrones. That brings the tally of Game of Thrones-based animated shows to three. Back in January, it was known one animated series was already under development. However, there’s still not much known about that series.

However, we do have some news regarding the newer ones. One of them will take place in the Golden Empire of Yi Ti. A region in the continent of Essos that is home to one of the oldest and most advanced societies in author George R.R. Martin’s sprawling fantasy world. Yi Ti is reportedly inspired by Imperial China, just as Westeros was said to have been inspired by Medieval Europe. Yi Ti was briefly referenced on Game of Thrones, though the Sea Snake, a character in HBO’s upcoming prequel series House of the Dragon.

However, there is some bad news as well. HBO is no longer moving forward with the rumoured live-action TV series ‘Flea Bottom‘. Flea Bottom would have taken place in the poorest district of King’s Landing. It was cancelled in the early stages and never officially confirmed by HBO.
