It is not that the writers wrote better for Tyrion in the beginning. It's just that they had book material to use verbatim. Now that we've ran out of books… yeah
I think Tyrion promised to make sure Cersei’s child marries into the family who sits on the iron throne in the future after the long night or something. I have always been suspicious of how easy it was for Cersei to agree to help. He is definitely betraying Dany.

Nooooo….he can't do that! I think that look outside the room on the boat is just concern that Jon/Dani are getting into something that will be distracting in the grand scheme of things, in other words, they should be keeping their minds on the bigger picture etc…. I don't think he'll betray anyone, that's not his style – he's a diplomat 😊
I like Tyrion too but after he killed his father his character took a dark turn. I think he'll regret whatever deal he made with her because Jamie leaving RL wasn't an outcome he considered!

I have been thinking Tyrion will betray Dany for a long time now. I think his character is changing. People want to blame the writing but I believe it is an intentional character change. People change. It is unrealistic to think someone won't change in 7 season's. Jmo.
