Why is Varys hiding the info??
I started watching the ENTIRE SERIES again on Episode 3. Varys has changed sooo much. I don't know if it's the writing or the character is not having a good arc. I miss him

i believe varys is the one who spread the rumor of Leana's kidnapping & rape to turn everyone against the mad king although he knew it wasn't the case…. since he considers himself a protector of the realm in his own way. he even did the same thing while robert baratheon ruled as he plotted to combine the targaryans with the dothrakis.

Unfortunately, all of the drama, plots, side stories, elements of surprise, etc are all lost due to HBOs extremely fast paced story telling….
Littlefinger absolutely knows about Jon's parents. Whether he knows about Jon is up for grabs, but there's no WAY Varys didn't know about what Jon's parents were up to at that time even in Dorne. Again, whether or not they know it's Jon is up for grabs. Telling the story in the crypts after Sansa was talking about how her Aunt died he said something like "How many tens of thousands had to die because he chose your Aunt?" Her face was angry as she went on about kidnapping and rape, but his was like 'I know something you don't know!'
I wonder, could Varys be a bastard child of the Mad King? On such theory, he would be the Mad King's 2nd child and son. If so, it would explain why he was sold as a slave instead of being sent to the Watch, to avoid issues with the legitimate heirs. Varys then worked his way up to be by his father's side, unbeknownst to his family. Varys would encourage Rheagar to pursue Lyanna to incite war, fuel the King with paranoia, etc. Varys has the talent to be a puppet master.

First thank you for all you do, I love your channel. My hope is that Sam and Gilly show up in the north with the book that cites Rhaegar Targaryen and Lyanna wed. I would love to see Bran take Jon on a tour (like the 3 eyed raven before him did with the Tower of Joy) but back up the past showing Lyanna and Rhaegar together, so he can see his parents for the first time….and then take him to the Tower of Joy…thats what I'd like to see happen and think it would be so cool.
Sam did come across documents that recorded the marriage of Rhaegar and Lyanna, but he was too distracted to listen to Lilly and see it's importance. I wonder if Varys has a secret that he was a septor in the past and could possibly have been involved in that annulment/marriage.

I think Varys knows sure. I think the bigger thing is whether or not Jon will find out, and whether or not Jon himself will try to keep this secret if he does.

I think when John finds out he's good tell everybody to keep it quiet because he doesn't want that to cause any trouble with the people in the North or with the queen and he doesn't have no desire to be the one true king
If you watch the directors in the end of episode 10 last season where Bran finds out they say they interviewed George Martin and HE revealed the truth about Jons heratige. So it doesn't matter if you don't get that from the books. George wrote them and he said that was the truth. They have interviewed him for the details of the show.

How about John getting engulfed in a massive fire but not getting burned because he is a blood of a dragon? May be that leads to a chain of events that leads everyone to find out about John's true lineage.

Varis probably hear a whisper but can't talk about it because he has no proof. That's the only way this makes sense. If he had proof he would have told Danny because John would be a threat to her in a way that he has the rightful claim.
Don't forget when Arya first arrived in Kings Landing she chased a cat into the dungens. Where she over heard Varys and Illyrio plotting to kill King Robert Baratheon. And Illyrio is the one who gave Daenerys the Dragon eggs. I just have a feeling he is going to become a bigger character as we get closer to the finale of GoT
It is very likely that Varys knows the story of Jon's parents. If so, he has carried that secret very well. But then, if he is a Targaryen supporter, it might be best for nobody to know the truth about Jon, including Jon, until a truly appropriate time. Which, of course, Varys would discern.
Bran will be the one to reveal the information to Jon. When Bran got back home he told Sansa he had something to talk to Jon about. Bran knows what Jon already knows about so it's not the whole winter is coming. I believe its to tell him how he is the son of fire and ice and how he plays a much bigger role in stopping the white walkers that he knows.
In the end you'll know nothing Jon Snow!!
