The Nevers is HBO’s long-in-gestation period piece about a group of Victorian women granted supernatural abilities, and the stodgy forces of upper-crust British society trying to keep them down. HBO released a new trailer and finally revealed a release date for the premiere: Sunday, April 11. Watch below:
The Nevers comes from the mind of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Firefly creator Joss Whedon, but he left the project shortly before he got cancelled for inappropriate behavior on set. HBO has hired British screenwriter British screenwriter Philippa Goslett to replace him as showrunner on The Nevers, so it looks like they want the show to continue, but they’re keeping Whedon’s name well off the marketing materials.
I think the show looks pretty fun. I’ll check it out.
Watch new trailers for the final season of Supergirl and the sci-fi movie Stowaway
As long as we’re talking about trailers, The CW dropped one for the sixth and final season of Supergirl. Check it out:
Supergirl returns for its final run on Tuesday, March 30, replacing freshman series Superman & Lois while it goes on a COVID-mandated break.
Finally, Netflix dropped a trailer for Stowaway, about a mission to Mars that goes pear-shaped partway through:
Marina (Toni Collette), Zoe (Anna Kendrick) and Kim (Hellboy’s Daniel Dae Kim) are manning this mission to Mars, and there’s little room for changes to the plan. A big change comes when Michael (Shamier Anderson), an engineer who passed out on the ship prior to launch, wakes up to find himself in space. Now he has to learn how to be an astronaut while the new, bigger crew try to figure out how to make an oxygen supply designed to keep alive three people can support four.
Stowaway lands on Netflix on April 22.
