We all know Game of Thrones had one of the biggest budgets in TV history. Dragons aren’t cheap, after all. And you definitely saw that money onscreen.

But what if HBO had access to, say, 1/1000 of the money they had to make the show? It’s impossible it would look a little something like what the creatives at the YouTube channel ClayClaim came up with. We present to you: the Game of Thrones season 8 intro, rendered entirely in cardboard (you see the actual intro at the start of the video, with the rest being an explanation for how it was made, if you’re interested):

Clayclaim usually works with clay, but we’re glad they took a break and used cardboard for this project. For comparison’s sake, here’s the genuine article:

Obviously, ClayClaim nails this. The recreation of Winterfell and King’s Landing and everything is great, but my favorite part may be the poor singing and goofy sound effects. There’s even an actual Starbucks cup placed in Winterfell!

Everything about this is wonderfully creative. For example, they successfully recreated the white weirwood tree in Winterfell using white rubber gloves and some red confetti. It feels like every detail from the season 8 intro is incorporated into this video in some unique way. Kudos all around!
