The holidays are here, and HBO has been doling out the presents. We finally got a teaser trailer for the eighth and final season of Game of Thrones a couple weeks back, along with a bevy of character retrospectives and a hashtag: #ForTheThrone. And if we’re very very good, maybe we’ll get a proper by the end of the year? Possibly?
In the meantime, enjoy this holiday-themed trailer from HBO Asia, which went up at the beginning of the month but which I somehow missed:
I would analyze this frame by frame — I know the second and third images are close-ups of a crown and the Iron Throne respectively, but what’s the first image we see? — but considering the video ends with Drogon, Rhaegal and Viserion hauling Santa’s slay through the sky, I don’t think it was meant to be taken that seriously. It’s pretty, though.
