Welcome back to another episode of WiC Live, where myself and Kayla Knierim break down each new episode of Game of Thrones. This week, our special guest is FanSided bigwig Patrick Allen, who lends his inestimable GoT expertise to our detailed discussion of “Beyond the Wall.” Watch it above.

This week’s topics include:

  • Did Daenerys really need to see the army of the dead before she could commit to fighting it?
  • What was our favorite bromance moment?
  • Why doesn’t anyone wear hats in sub-zero temperatures?
  • We memorialize Thoros of Myr. He may be dead, but at least he went out after getting mauled by a zombie bear, which should make a good story in the afterlife.
  • Is Game of Thrones going out of its way to keep everyone alive this year? And if so, why?
  • Is there a sororicide in the near future at Winterfell? And what’s a sororicide? More to the point, do we buy Arya being so suspicious of Sansa? Why did she give her the dagger?
  • I dip into my personal life when I try to explain the frayed relationship between Arya and Sansa.
  • Why exactly does Sansa send Brienne to King’s Landing?
  • We analyze Littlefinger’s slippery way with language.
  • Why was Daenerys so loathe to discuss her succession?
  • There are a few things in this episode we want to tweak just a little bit, like the fact that all but one wight happens to die after Jon kills the White Walker, or Benjen clearly having time to hop on the horse after he tells Jo he had no time.
  • Is killing the Night King the final endgame of the series, or is it all an elaborate red herring?
  • How far south can the White Walkers actually get? Do they bring the cold or do they come with the cold? We debate Game of Thrones’ metaphysics.
  • Okay, let’s get into the timeline. Gendry ran to Eastwatch, ravens made it all the way to Dragonstone, and Daenerys flew all the way to the island beyond the Wall in the time it took ice to freeze. Did we buy it?
  • Should Daenerys have taken Tyrion’s advice and not rescued Jon?
  • We work through out emotions during the episode’s big moment: the death of Viserion. Exactly how boned is Westeros now that the Night King has his own dragon?
  • What impressed Daenerys’ more: Jon’s scars or his abs?
  • The show is clearly ramping up to a Jon-Dany romance. Are we bothered by the incest angle?
  • As I actually halfway predicted last week, I was so tired after staying up so late recapping the episode that I actually wore my shirt inside-out for this episode. Thanks for pointing it out on camera, Kayla.
