Game Of Thrones season eight is only a month away (Picture: HBO)

It’s only a matter of weeks now until we finally get to clap eyes upon the final season of Game Of Thrones.

Yup, the first episode of series eight kicks off in the US on Sunday 14 April – with Brits getting the chance to watch a simulcast in the early hours of Monday morning.

And we already know that this season’s going to have fewer episodes than previous series – just six in fact, making it the shortest season so far.

We also know that it’s going to feature a pretty brutal battle sequence which star Maisie Williams described as ‘physically draining’.

What we’re not so clear on just yet though is how long each of the episodes is – with director David Nutter previously revealing we can expect some longer instalments than usual.

So just how long is each episode? Here’s what we know so far…

The running times for the first two episodes of the series have been revealed, with HBO – who airs GoT in the US – revealing them in its schedule for the coming weeks.

According to the schedule the first episode of season eight is 54 minutes long, while the second the following week is a shade longer at 58 minutes.

The Game Of Thrones site Watchers On The Wall has also revealed running times for the rest of the series, with the remaining four instalments longer than the first two.

They have reported that episode three clocks in at 60 minutes, episode four at 78 minutes and episodes five and six at 80 minutes each.

That’s a whole lot of Game Of Thrones for your money – and you can expect it to be pretty epic, especially with the aforementioned battle sequence set to outdo the show’s Battle Of The Bastards.

Actor Peter Dinklage – aka the show’s Tyrion Lannister – said of the sequence: ‘It’s brutal. It makes Battle of the Bastards look like a theme park’.

We can’t wait.

Where can you watch Game Of Thrones in the UK?

The series airs on Sky Atlantic, with the first episode of season eight being aired in the early hours of Monday 15 April as it is shown in the States.

If you can’t sit up that late, you can catch it on Sky Atlantic at 9pm on the Monday evening.
