Season seven of Game Of Thrones has barely even bowed out yet and fans are already counting down the days until it’s back on television with the eighth and final series.

There’s been so much hype each and every week around the current episodes of the show that we’d almost forgotten that, once the final installment wraps up on Monday night, it could be months on end until we’re back in Westeros.

But how long exactly will it be until Game of Thrones season 8 is up for grabs? Will it really be a whole year without Bran’s joyful, dulcet tones to thrill us all? How will we cope?

When can you expect from Game of Thrones Season 8 to arrive on your TV screen?

Luckily, a few GoT superfans seem to think they’ve figured out roughly when to pencil in the gap in your social life to make way for the final series, and it’s good news.

Fingers crossed we might not have to wait too long because, based on its filming date and a look back at previous examples, it’s possible to make a logical guess.

Production of season six began in July 2015, and the show itself arrived on screen nine months later in April 2016 like a perfect pregnancy.

Season seven wasn’t quite so kind though. Production began at the end of August 2016 and wasn’t broadcast until a very long 11 months later in July 2017. The hefty wait was blamed on the weather, as filming was put on hold until the ideal wintery conditions arrived on location.

This time however, Mother Nature is on side with the Mother of Dragons. Season seven has wrapped up its broadcast at the end of August, meaning that winter is literally coming just in time for filming.

With that in mind, superfans are predicting that the previously seen nine month gap between production and your television should technically be possible. In theory, anyway.

With filming kicking off in October 2017 and only six (albeit extended) episodes to create this time around, it gives Game Of Thrones season eight a fairly safe bet release date of July 2018.

Valar morghulis, see you then.
