With a new series, Targaryens George RR Martin, and Ryan Condal are coming back on HBO. House of the Dragon- a prequel of Games of Thrones is launching soon on HBO. Games of Thrones were over last year. HBO decided to launch a full prequel so that fans could explore more about Westeros. House of the Dragon is set back 300 years before the main events of the House Targaryen took place. HBO announced the launching of the prequel just after the news of the second prequel, which was set in thousand years earlier, was announced by Producer Jane Goldman.
The series is still in the early stage of production. We could expect to watch the series in 2022.
Except for the Night of the King and the children of the forest make a comeback, none of the characters will be there in the House of the Dragon. However, we will be watching the ancestors of the Starks, Lannisters, Baratheons, Aegon “the Conqueror” Targaryen and his sister-wives Rhaenys and Visenya. Also, the popular large dragon Balerion the Black Dread will be there in the house of the Dragon.
The events of the House of the Dragon are set back in 300 years earlier than the events of the game of thrones took place. The show will revolve around when Aegon Targaryen first flew his dragons to Westeros and named himself king, kicking off a bloody war that ended with the forming of the Iron Throne and the Seven Kingdoms. It will focus more on Aegon’s war of conquest.
Casey Bloys, president of HBO programming, said after the show’s announcement: “The Game of Thrones universe is so rich with stories. We look forward to exploring the origins of House Targaryen and the earlier days of Westeros along with Miguel, Ryan, and George.”
