It’s been almost fourteen years since fans first saw the cast of Skins navigating their way through complicated teen issues.

From being run over by a bus to estranged parents, relationships and confidence, Skins wasn’t afraid to tackle difficult issues and it was partly why so many fell in love with the show.

There’s been multiple generations since it first aired premiered on E4 in 2007, with the cast changing as each generation moves through their sixth-form or college years.

So where did they go after their turn on the show ended?

Nicholas Hoult – Tony

Tony was a divisive character throughout – cocky and confident to begin with.

Tony faced more than his fair share of troubles after being hit by a bus.

After slowly recovering, Tony’s story ends on a happy note as he’s able to go to university with his girlfriend Michelle.

Nicholas Hoult has moved onto Hollywood, appearing in multiple X-men films playing Henry McCoy, otherwise known as Beast.

He has also appeared in Tolkien, where he played the lead as well as Clash of the Titans and Mad Max: Road Fury.

Mike Bailey – Sid

Sid never had it easy in the shadow of best mate Tony.

After Tony’s accident however, Sid initially couples up with Tony’s ex Michelle, before eventually finding his true love with Cassie.

Mike Bailey has largely stopped acting, leaving in 2017 to pursue a career in teaching drama.

Before doing so he appeared in 1066 The Battle for Middle Earth , We are the Freaks and ending his career with Hers and History.

April Pearson – Michelle

Michelle was the popular ‘it’ girl – she got the boys and had the sass.

Michelle was extremely clever and moved past her impressionable stage.

Since she left the show, she moved in the horror genre, appearing in horror films ‘Fractured’ and ‘Caught.’

She has even founded her own theatre company with her partner film director Jamie Patterson.

Hannah Murray – Cassie

From the troubled teen Cassie, Hannah has moved on to some impressive roles.

Cassie often seemed in a world of her own, and was loved by her peers.

Battling an eating disorder throughout the series, Cassie is helped by boyfriend Sid.

However Cassie’s story ended on a sadder note when her life was revisited in the final series of Skins in 2013.

Hannah went on to become a regular in the adored Game of Thrones series, and has since played the lead in a film surrounding a former member of the Mason Family.

Tragically, Chris dies from the same cause and the final episode of the series show his friendship group stealing his coffin to hold their own memorial after Chris’ father bans them from the funeral.

Joe went on to appear on Doctor Who as well as Merlin, before eventually becoming well known for the character of Gendry in Game of Thrones.

Jal was the quiet one of the friendship group, incredibly gifted at playing the clarinet.

Her character fell in love with Chris and was distraught by his death.

Since Skins, Larissa has mainly given up acting with small appearances in Holby City for two episodes as well as BBC’s The Sparticle Mystery.

Her last project was in 2020 where she starred in the BBC Sounds podcast series Murmurs.

Mitch Hewer – Maxxie

Maxxie was the brilliantly talented dancer and a character universally liked.

Best friends with Anwar, the pair fall out after Maxxie tells him he is gay.

Forbidden in Anwar’s faith, Anwar eventually becomes accepting and the pair’s friendship resumes.

Since Skins, Mitch has made appearance on Xtra Factor, This Morning and Never Mind the Buzzcocks.

His last project appeared to have been in 2016-17 where he appeared in 8 episodes of Casualty.

Whilst Effy wasn’t technically part of the first generation, she deserves an honourable mention.

Effy appeared as Tony’s little sister, not actually talking until the eighth episode.

Effy’s trademark sly smile and eye rolls became iconic and she went on to appear as a main character in the second generation.

Kaya Scodelario has gone on to star in Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, Maze Runner and Netflix’s Spinning Out.

She is currently working on The King’s Daughter which is currently awaiting release.
