A Song of Ice and Fire and Game of Thrones fans like to analyze and categorize everything, with the latest example coming from Reddit user j0lly_c0mpani0n, who ranked many of the show’s main characters using a Dungeons and Dragons staple, the alignment chart. Alignment charts use two sets of values to assign placements, law vs chaos and good vs evil. Sounds perfect for Game of Thrones right? Look upon the results.
First off, can we say how utterly awesome it is that Bronn is the center of attention? Bronn should always be the center of attention. Elsewhere, we have all sorts of comments, starting with Tywin Lannister. Tywin being ranked as evil we can of course agree with, but lawful? The Red Wedding was hardly lawful, although some might argue guest right was not a formal law per se.
On the opposite end of the spectrum, Daenerys’ placement of chaotic good is note perfect. Dany has always been a force for good, even if her nature or intentions are hard to nail down. Dany is seeking to “break the whee,l” so by definition she is a force of chaos. Likewise, Ramsay Bolton’s ranking as chaotic evil is right on the button, as you never knew what the former Warden of the North was going to do; but it was always be evil.
Other highlights include Sandor “the Hound” Clegane’s ranking as rebel impure. Considering the Hound’s past indiscretions under Joffrey, as well as his rebellious nature against the Seven Kingdom’s institutions of knighthood and royalty we can appreciate it. Stannis Baratheron’s ranking as lawful neutral is interesting as well, taking into account his strict adherence to the laws of the land, but also his willingness to you know, burn his daughter at the stake.
