Game of Thrones fans will finally find out who lives and who dies when the final season airs in April.
There are only six more episodes left of the fantasy series and there are still a lot of questions to answer.
Many viewers are wondering whether the Wight Walkers will signal the end of Westeros, or if we will see someone end the series sat on the iron throne.
There have been many significant deaths along the way with Ned Stark’s execution in season one setting a precedent for shocking moments in the series.
This was followed by the Red Wedding where Robb Stark and his mother Catelyn were killed and then Joffrey’s murder following his marriage to Margaery Tyrell.
Here are all of the key characters who died in season 7 and how they left the series.
Lady Olenna Tyrell
Olenna died in the third episode of season 7 after Highgarden, the Tyrell home, is overrun by the Lannister army.
Jaime Lannister entered her room to confront Olenna and he handed her a poison that would give her a painless death.
After finding out that the poison would cause a painless death she doesn’t hesitate to drink it, and she then tells Jaime that she was responsible for Joffrey’s death and that she wants Cersei to know that it was her who killed him.
The character first appeared in the second episode of season 3 and she became an influential figure in the series.
Diana Rigg received an Emmy Award nomination for Outstanding Guest Actress in a drama series for her performance in 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2018.
Littlefinger/Petyr Baelish
Petyr Baelish has been a prominent character throughout the show, plotting and scheming behind the scenes.
His influence on the other characters dates back to the very beginning of the series when he convinces Lysa Arryn to poison her husband Jon Arryn.
He met his fate after attempting to put Sansa and Arya Stark against each other, but his plans crumble when confronted by the sisters.
Littlefinger begs for his life but he is then killed by Arya who slits his throat with his Valyrian dagger.
Thoros of Myr
Thoros of Myr was a leading figure in the Brotherhood without Banners alongside Beric Dondarrion, who first appeared in the third season.
The character was then absent for the fourth and fifth seasons but returned during season six when the brotherhood runs into Sandor Clegane.
Thoros died after travelling beyond the wall with Jon Snow, Beric Dondarrion, the Hound, Gendry, Tormund and Jorah Mormont.
A wight snow bear attacked the group and Thoros was left severely injured after protecting the Hound from the bear.
He carries on despite his wounds but he later freezes to death after the group is forced to stay on a small island of ice.
Benjen Stark
Benjen had been absent for large parts of the Game of Thrones series, with many characters and viewers wondering if he had died after first venturing beyond the wall.
The character first appeared in season 1 but then disappeared completely until he returned in season 6 to rescue Bran Stark and Meera Reed as they’re chased by wights.
He took them to safety but revealed that he couldn’t travel beyond the wall and disappeared again until season 7.
The Stark returned to save the life of his nephew Jon Snow, placing him on his horse and telling him to ride for the wall.
Benjen attempts to fight off the wights but he is eventually overrun by them and killed.
Viserion
Viserion’s death was one of the most dramatic moments of season 7, as the dragon was taken down by an ice spear thrown by the Night King.
He then crashed to the ground and sunk down into the lake, but viewers later saw Viserion resurrected by the Night King, turning him into an ice dragon.
Season 7 ended with Viserion using his breath to destroy the ice wall at Eastwatch-by-the-Sea, which will enable to Night King to move his army of the dead across.
