  2. Enjoyed your analysis as always, Robert.  And as you said at the end, they are going about the growth in knowledge exactly the wrong way – but we should keep in mind that that does not have to be for any nefarious reason.  Through most of human history that is exactly the strategy that has been employed, and many societies even today believe that knowledge is and should be the providence of a given few, and is made stronger by keeping it "pure" and out of the hands of any except those who can be "trusted" with it.  Since this gives the few that have it significant personal advantages in the short run, even without any conspiracy between members, there is significant pressure to "keep the important information only to those who can be trusted".  Even in modern western society we see this with Certification and licensing of professional which can go way beyond certifying competence to sharply limiting who can do what.   My point here is that keeping knowledge locked up is a normal part of human societies at a similar level of development with Westerous, it encourages stability over that terrible disruptor of innovation.  And most Feudal societies value stability much higher than growth and development.

  3. The Bitter/Sweet ending may well encompass great change and a Westeros "reset". And, on a side note, like many I feel Sam is writing the story. Great video mate. If you can keep up this standard till commencement of Season 8, you'll make a great many people happy and fulfilled…

  4. excellent as usual I absolutely can't wait to see what Secrets The Citadel truly holds towards the fight for the dawn ( because Sam stole those books) and why is the opening credits to every single Game of Thrones has that spinny thing up in the air that's at the Citadel that keeps on like it's clicking in to see closer to either Winterfell or King Landing or wherever it is that they're focusing on for that particular episode butt I'm curious to know what that has to do with everything I think it has something to do with something major but I have no idea what !!! can't wait for your next video

  5. Great video Robert. Do you think they have a Ill intent? I have not seen any evidence that they are organized crime types as opposed to men that are not all together social. Looking forward to the next one.

  6. Hi Robert! Great video! You had mentioned, maesters specialized in 1 subject get a certain link made out of certain medals. For example what does a Iron link on a maesters chain mean? Would be awesome to break those maesters chains meaning. For example did Grand Maester Paycel have 1 or multiple specialties? 🙂

  7. I'm very curious what Marwyn will do and say once he reaches Dany. The other maesters have and will capitalize off of no magic, but does it make Westeros better? The smarter we get the dumber we get. Grrm said in the 9/3/17 interview that leeches and maggots were making a comeback in science, and I think that might contribute in twow

  8. Hello sweet my sexy mysterious spicy boy..food for thought..The organization of the Meisters in Oldtown reminds me the organization in the laboratories of the painters/sculptors in the Italy of 15th century [Renaissance period]..Especially in the Florence and in Venice..There every child who was send it by his parents there to learn the job in the 1st part his 1st job it was to is responsible for the cleaning, the cooking, the cleaning of the painting stuff,to sleeping in the floor or in the kitchen and to take care about the cleaning and the wellness of the laboratory..Then in the 2cond part of of the job the child it was responsible to watch the painter during his job..doing nothing but only seeing and giving attention to his teacher and his lessons…In the 3rd part the child was already as student who could help his teacher to complete his paintings ..and in the last part of his studies the child was a completed painter /sculptor who could take orders by the Italian lords of the era to decorate their palaces, their houses and to takes orders from the Cardinals, the Popes, the high priests to decorate their monasteries, their churches and etc and have their own laboratories and assistants to help them…The same with the Maesters in GOT…They in the 1st grade they become servants ..Carrying for the ill peoples, for the cleaning of the temple and the library and other stuff..in the 2cond grade they becomes students ..learning from books and paying attention to old Maesters when they teaching them..in the 3rd grade they becomes assistants ..helping the old Maesters to writing their books and to give advises…and in the 4ourth grade they become completely Maesters..writing their books of history or becoming Maesters in the service of a lord/lady/king/queen giving in them their advises or helping them in ruling .and having their own personal assistants to help them writting their books or letters..There is something similar between the laboratories of the Renaissance painters of the 15 century and the organization of the Maesters in Citadel …GRRM has put a historical clue there ..gift from the Renaissance Medieval Era of Europe..What do you think?
