Like Game of Thrones, House of the Dragon has an enormous cast. You’ve got big players like Rhaenrya Targaryen and Alicent Hightower, but also secondary and tertiary characters. All will form the tapestry of what HBO is hoping is another big hit.
If Game of Thrones fans look very closely, they might even spot a familiar face. Jefferson Hall played Ser Hugh of the Vale way back in the first season of Game of Thrones, and is now being brought into House of the Dragon to play twin brothers Jason and Tyland Lannister. Clearly, twins run in the family there.
They’re both important characters, too. Jason Lannister is the lord of Casterly Rock and Warden of the West during the time period of House of the Dragon, which is set some 200 years before Game of Thrones. Meanwhile, Tyland is the Master of Ships to King Viserys I Targaryen. Not a bad promotion for Jefferson Hall!
Who is Sonoya Mizuno in House of the Dragon?
Meanwhile, Sonoya Mizuno is getting more press as the actor who will play Mysaria, a prostitute who will rise through the ranks of the King’s Landing underworld to eventually become the unofficial Mistress of Whisperers to Rhaenrya Targaryen, one of the two main claimants to the Iron Throne fight fight in a civil war that tears Westeros apart.
Coincidentally enough, both Mizuno and Hall starred together in the mind-bending FX drama Devs, she as lead character Lily and he in the recurring role of Pete. Who knows if they’ll share the screen again in House of the Dragon?
House of the Dragon premieres on HBO and HBO Max on August 21.
