Superhero cinema isn’t all Marvel and DC and we’ve seen a handful of notable sub-genre efforts outside of these banners so far in 2022.
The latest to command attention is Samaritan.
Directed by Julius Avery, Sylvester Stallone tackles the titular role as he takes on his arch-rival and supervillain Nemesis.
Sly is joined by a wealth of familiar faces including Pilou Asbæk, who stars in the part of Cyrus.
Watching the 40-year-old Danish actor showcase his talents, many will either be notified of or reminded of the fact that he actually starred in Game of Thrones…

Who is Pilou Asbæk’s character in Game of Thrones?
Pilou Asbæk portrayed the character of Euron Greyjoy and first came aboard the project in season 6.
He reprised the role in the following two seasons.
To jog your memory, Game of Thrones Fandom highlights that Euron was the brother of Balon Greyjoy, the Lord Reaper of Pyke and subsequent King of the Iron Islands. Euron later took control of the Salt Throne and focused attention on tracking down Yara and Theon, who are partnered with Daenerys Targaryen.
He commanded the Lannister fleet as the series progressed.
The character was alluded to in the first season but it wasn’t until the sixth – episode 1, The Red Woman – that he was inducted as a series regular at last.
‘I wish we would’ve gotten some more’
Pilou recently sat down for an interview with NME and was asked what a potential Euron spin-off series may have looked like:
“I wish we would’ve gotten some more sides to Euron Greyjoy, so it wasn’t pure horniness or craziness or evilness, but also the black magic – it came out of power, wanting power. Like a crazy pirate coming-of-age story.”
He was also asked if he’s seen House of the Dragon.
“I don’t know anything,” he admitted. “I hope it’s going to be a massive success because of all the people who’ve put such effort and work into it. There’s two TV shows that I’m really looking to: House of the Dragon and The Rings Of Power. I love those kind of stories.”
