Who is Snoke | Star Wars Theory Explained – The Last Jedi Livestream Discussions

We are so close to The Last Jedi, which means we’re wrapping up the #LastJediLivestreams! This is our second to last episode, so we went big with this one! We talked the talk about the Supreme Leader himself, SNOKE! Who or what could he be? What’s his end game? Is he Mace Windu? All of that and more was discussed in this show!

Our Humble Beginnings: The Den of Nerds started as the personal YouTube channel of our founder, Joshua Lucas. Josh is a comic book writer and editor, but more importantly, he’s a HUGE Nerd. He started making videos on June 15th 2016. The goal back then was to just talk about Nerdy things, but quickly Josh found that his interests had changed. Soon after, he formed a new vision for what The Den of Nerds could and should be.

The Changing State of Media: Media Is going through the most massive shift in the past hundred years. Everything is going digital, direct to market, and mobile. The best and worst part of this is that there are no more gatekeepers. Anyone and everyone can put their content out there and reach a mass audience. However, the new gatekeeper is the algorithm. In order to get stuff in front of people, certain practices are done which hurt quality. In this world, where established networks are now fighting for views against thousands of YouTube personalities and bloggers, ALL of these people have forgotten the most important part of this equation. That is the value for the end consumer. That is something we will NEVER do. How will we figure out how to add value to our audience? It’s simple; we’ll ACTUALLY interact with them and we’ll actually CARE.

Our Vision: We want to become the ESPN of Nerdy things, but obviously with some changes. We imagine a place and time where we have high quality and personalized content put out every day that serves Nerds around the world. We want to be hyper interactive with our viewers on Social Media and in person. Simply put, we exist to expand the fun in YOUR life! Becoming a major player in reporting, programming, and covering Nerdy things is how we plan to do that!

  1. Originally, I liked my The Knight King is Snoke theory. But now, the more I think about it with all your theories today (especially with the Mace Windu and Storm Trooper hitting his head), I'm beginning to think Deadpool is Snoke.

  4. I think when Lucas Film began to develop Snoke they essentially had NO idea WHO he was. I heard at one point he was almost a she. After they got his look down, after they knew what he was, they then knew exactly WHO he was.
    THE DIFFERENCE in my mind (and I bet most) between Snoke and the Emperor is that in the original trilogy we really didn't know Palpatine until ROJ. Vader, to us, WAS the big baddie even though we knew there was an Emperor calling the shots. In this trilogy Snoke was introduced to us in the first film with enough screen time and tid bits of history that almost demands an explanation from Lucas Film.

  5. The thing about Snoke is this: back in the days you could afford to introduce an evil emperor without giving any more details, but it's a different world we're living in. We now have Disney giving us backstories for every single character involved in the plot, we want to know everything about anyone. That's why I don't agree with those saying Snoke is just THE bad guy just Palpatine was in the OT. Further, Disney clearly told us they want to tie to the SW lore, so it would be incredibly odd for Snoke just being someone. I'm not saying he's Plagueis or anything, but he must be linked to the main story somehow in a (hopefully) significant way..

  7. Snoke has a lower approval rating than Jar Jar. Rian is Making Luke a farmer with no connection to the Force anymore ( That's why he's wearing his farmer boots that looks just like the new Hope's . Kylo started his training in his twenties…Making Rey flawless. And now Snoke. Vanilla, I'm more powerful fraud that has to be bigger and badder than Palpatine. Hi, I'm Rian and I'm going to change everything about the force. You don't understand the Direction? Guess what, I'm writing a Trilogy so I can erase everything Lucas started, that is now outdated. This new Trilogy will be all new. Ok. I'll throw out a bone for you unfortunate older fans we don't want. Revan will have a connection to your loser favorite Luke. Luke is now the most knowledgeable force user of the Jedi history…even more than Yoda, but we will still make him a loser and only Rey can save the universe. What made Luke, Leia, and Han special was that they needed each other. Not Rey. All powerful and flawless. She's not even a Skywalker, and the Skywalker they do make is the loser Kylo. For the first time ever, I can care less about this new movie. It'll have great writing, and the Marvel like humor will please the Audience, but I'm not sold. Never wish for something you will regret later. I saw a small portion of the film. At least the shock has left me. I have a lower expectation of the film and I might enjoy it when I see it in full. I just won't see it on opening night like the rest of them. As for Snoke….Well, they are not going to explain much about him, Luke's Redeeming part will be between them.

    I myself think Snoke is betraying,for Emporer Palpatine,or Emporer Palpatine,is Snoke under a different name…

    In Episode 6,they, left alot of Clip-Hanger's,
    I believe, Emporer Palpatine, Red Guads,saved him, but, when, Darth-Vader, threw him down the reactor shaft,he got maggal-up,and exposed to Radiation, like in Movie's when a creature get expose to Radiation they grow bigger…

  11. Guys, they did the same thing with the Emperor. Teased him the same way in 4 and 5. Or let's say they are copying what they did with the Emperor in and 4&5. My elders remember this that way so it must be so.

  14. Luke's saber will be either white or purple. White, if he heals the red crystal. Purple, because in the canon novel Heir of the Jedi, Luke receives a purple kyber crystal from a Rodian Jedi.

    Though it could still be green because he uses a green saber in the Battlefront 2 single player, which takes place after ROTJ.
