Why is Jamie Lannister so misunderstood? Does it always go back to Aerys, The Mad King???! Maybe. But Most peoples dislike of Jamie stems from Bran Stark. Jamie Lannister The Kingslayer is by far the most misunderstood character in Game of Thrones. It’s No Secret he’s one of my favorites if not my favorite male character in a song of ice and fire or Game of Thrones.. In this video I will explain why Jamie Lannister is so misunderstood and how he’s actually one of the good guys!

WOW. thank you much– I'm aware of Jamie's bad actions but when the good are thrown together with reasons why it make a difference
As a person Jaimie Lannister is shit. Bangs his sister (he has a choice !!!), pushes a 10 yr old to death (he again had a choice !!!) and some people still like him ? As a character he is interesting. He is redeeming himself bit by bit. It would be poetic if he dies protecting someone/something against Cersie.
SOMEONE HAS A CRUSH 🙂
Holy crap this video is retarded. The basis of your argument is completely flawed. 'What would you do' how about start by not getting into that mess by banging your sister and wife of your king? 'Did you cheer Geoffrey s death? ' false equivalency, Geoffrey was a sadistic murderer that took pleasure in torturing others.
I forgave Jamie when he lost his sword hand and started looking for his redemption! 👉 "A Lannister always pays his debt"
May I request Daenerys misunderstood video? People mistake her reasons for ruling and conquering – yes she's of royal blood but that doesn't really motivate her or her campaign at it's core.
Once we learned what really led to his killing of Aerys, I was open to a redemption arc. Brienne holds the greatest respect for honor and justice of any character in the series save Edward and Stannis (though he loses his way while Jamie redeems himself). If Brienne can come to see him in a new light, anyone can. While clearly flawed, his character is one of the most complex, which is really saying something given our love for an assassin like Arya or a young woman who has killed thousands in her quest for the iron throne/saving humanity like Dany.
Jaime is my favorite character in the story. I still think that the cut away scene where he looks up at the snow flake in the last episode symbolizes an interesting contrast. We are introduced to him looking like the typical white knight, in golden shining armor, but see only his worst acts. In the cutaway scene, he is on a black horse, wearing all black…headed…maybe toward the knights watch. Now will we see his most honorable acts to come? That's what I believe.
He's the most hated character. 😯😦🤧🤧😒
Jaimie Lannister is the epitomy of a gray area. Love your video. Thank you
One of my favorite videos yet! Watched it twice in fact.
Love me some Sir Jamie!
<3
I get your point, but still HATE the king slayer. I will cheer when he dies
I admit when Jamie started out I did not care for him, Cersi is another story; but as the story developed so did Jamie. He learned to adjust and thus changed for the better. Eventually he changes enough to become an asset to the coming storyline. Cersi on the other hand, can't wait for her to receive her just dessert.
So agree with you! Jamie has had a hard life, and has had time to make up for his mistakes, but no one would let someone burn an entire kingdom.
King Robert was horrible! A drunk who lived in the past and treated his wife like s*&*, mismanaged money, the kingdom and didn't leave it any better than he found it. Pining after a woman who never wanted him. He's presented to us as honorable Ned's friend so we are supposed to "like" him, but he was not a good king or much of a man.
Rob was just a cocky kid who decided to do his own thing and got thousands of people killed because he was selfish and pretty stupid.
I suppose we love all these characters because we get to understand their pasts, not just that they are "evil" or "good" but you are able to put yourself in their shoes and most of the time it is how you would have reacted.
I agree, good video. Jamie has redeemed himself and I love who he has become.
Hes been my fav since day 1 baby and i pray everyday for book 6 and 7 soo i can see this badass become azor ahai or the chosen one
I love Jaime, he is perhaps the best written character in the books. My problem with him is that he is pretty impulsive. What he and his sister share is that they are not as smart as they think they are. They take actions that are short term gain, long term loss.
I understand why he had to kill the mad king but not what he did to Bran he almost killed him for Cersei and what about when he told Edmeur Tully that he would catapult his new born baby to get back to Cersei. Cersi was his down fall. Anyway all of the characters have flaws and I'm happy he's finally trying to make amends by keep his promise to Jon and Dany and finally leave Cersei.
LOL! The Bran vs Jeoffrey comparison kind of fails for me, based on the fact Jeoffrey was a true sociopath! 😉
I LOVE this 'misunderstood' series, Gray. And it's especially helpful with characters who are a mystery to me. I don't think Jaime needs a much more redemption now that he's left Cersei, though he probably does need a heroic fulfillment arc (and romantic?) I think he's not going to survive next season, but he will deserve a place in the White Book.
I have loved Jaimie since Episode One. GRRM loves to remind us, everyone has good and bad in them. Even the worst people are not bad 24/7.
Do you think the dragons will get even bigger ??
you forgot to mention Jamie in the Riverlands trying to shore up the Lannister 'peace'Jamie sucks. Die.
he hasn't completely paid for his crimes. Remember Elia and her children. i do. he hasn't paid for his failure to protect them.
Misunderstood? He's an asshole. You like him because he's pretty. I don't care about the incest and killing King Aerys was almost enough to get him a measure of forgiveness but he's still an asshole.
plus it's tradition
the blood of Valyria is a much finer cut of fabric compared to literally everyone else. and because the Old Blood is dwindling, there are few options.
I cant agree with you more and he is one of my favorite.
Yea I can differently relate with Jamie, sometimes enough is enough,it's time to change
Go away inside so I don't have to do anything about it
Sometimes the worse things turn into blessings
It's happened to me
I don't forgive Rob for not honoring his vow to the Frey's…I didn't like the Frey's but Rob forgot his honor which is what the Stark's are known for and he put his desire over the needs of the family…I do blame the Frey's for the red wedding because they were there as honored guests.
Jamie is one of my favorite….agree with all you say.
Geoffrey was an insane sadist, Bran is not. Jaime is, like Martin's other characters – not pure evil. He is a human who makes good and bad choices, pays for the bad ones and grows through the show. By their choices they either break good or break bad. Good ones sometimes die, and bad ones sometimes succeed – for a time. Jaime is on track to redeem himself and let the better parts of his nature win out. Cercie took another path, and has broken bad – she will face the judgement for that. Death is not payment – suffering is.
You have lead me to rethink my view of this character. I still think his self redemption will be his death, but not before valorous deeds. I think he will meet Bran soon. He will be humble, and Bran will forgive him, as it was necessary to send Bran on the path he needed to go to become what he had to become.
cersei know jamie well coz if jamie is near her she would never be able to get her hands on wildfire and both times when it is used in the series jamie is not there to see it. although the first time it is avoided by tyrion, cersei knew that jamie will stop anyone from using wildfire in kings landing, or anywhere else and he is also one of the things that keeps her sane
Great video!
I'm a grayarea lover-boi
Pushing Bran out the window is REALLY hard to get past. But still there is room for redemptipn. His continued support of Cersei is what has held most back from accepting the good in him. Well, that and the fact he doesn't seem to have an alpha bone in his body. His weakness is annoying.
Why does everyone trip off Daenarys and Jon? Aunt and nephew was not frowned upon in the books at all. Only brother and sister was. Remember a stark uncle and stark niece married.
I'm not mad at him anymore and haven't been for a while
i like what your saying
He is one of my favorite characters.. This is a great video..
Once I got use to your introduction of "Sweet summer childreeennnn" I've been able to appreciate your videos more. I know it takes a lot of work to do these videos and your brain sometimes has to be going 1k miles per hour, but your efforts are truly appreciated, so thank you!
Okay, I'm lying, 😌 I'm still not use to your "SSC" (Eekk) but I DO love your work and again, I appreciate the effort that goes forth in making your videos. Keep it up! 😊
First of all, Rob and Sansa wouldn't have been sleeping together because that's nasty and the honorable Starks don't do nasty. That's the point. Cersei and Jaime had no business sleeping together for several reasons. It's forbidden by law, religion, their mother, she's married, she's the queen, etc. Maybe I could take in your point if he wasn't doing something wrong in the first place, but I won't give him a pass for being selfish, arrogant, horny, stupid (according to Cersei and Tyrion), incestuous and deceptive in the first place.
I don't think Jaime is a monster. I think Jaime was madly in love with Cersei and was blind to the fact that she is mad and cruel and did anything she wanted because he was hot for her goods. That's not a noble story. That's not a romantic story. It's a common story. People do all sorts of bad things in the name of love until they get played by their lover, then all of sudden, they find religion and know right from wrong. That is selfish and arrogant! In the books, Jaime admitted to himself that he would have killed Arya for Cersei because she was upset about Arya's confrontation with Joffrey. Fortunately for Arya, the Stark men found her first.
However, as soon as Jaime realized that Cersei was sleeping around and he started questioning her loyalty and faithfulness, he had no problem distinguishing right from wrong — all of sudden.
Now, I do agree with your assessment of Jaime's story when it comes to killing the Mad King. I think he's unfairly ridiculed for that. I agree. He was protecting his father and the people of King's Landing and I think that was honorable.
I also agree that Jaime's story will end in redemption and he deserves that. But he also has to answer for Bran. That act was inexcusable! And it started a war for God's sake! He was a guest at Winterfell and couldn't keep it in his pants for just a few weeks?! Bran shouldn't have had to pay for his bad deeds and I hope Winter comes for him through Arya in the end.
I had read the first book and was halfway through the second when I asked a coworker, who had read the entire series, what his favorite character was. He said 'Jamie'. I said 'haha. right. really, who?' He insisted he wasn't joking. I told him I would never, ever be able to like Jamie Lannister. Yeah…I ate those words. As you said he really is one of the best characters in the series and really has had a change for the better. The thing that I never got (well, I do because Martin wrote him to be like this) is why he didn't tell everyone what he told Breinne. If he told everyone that he saved the city most people would have viewed him as a hero. Certainly the people in the city would have. But he didn't so everyone hates him. That was a dumb move.
Your Lady Boner for Jamie has ruined your perspective, Jamie was one of the biggest C*&ts in the entire series, His partner in arms was too, but she went absolutely batshit. She killed thousands to save herself and ended up killing their children , He STILL stayed with her. He remorsed now down to his own honour code (which he broke numerous times already anyway) eventually but way too late. Just because he's no longer on par with the sickest character in the show by no way means hes repenting. He's still doing what he wants (ie marching to war)
