I have a couple of theories about the Night King and Jon Snow’s confrontation, during the episode of Hardhome.

  1. There's got to be something to it. It seems like the night King wanted Jon alive like he knew Jon had a role to play in the future. Why else would he not have killed Drogon while he was down on the ground rather than Viserio? Maybe the night King will reveal an agenda that is not all bad but what he's doing is for the greater good? That's far fetched because his whites and white walkers have tried to kill Jon but it's just a thought.

  7. the Night King looks like he broods a lot. Maybe he heard about our prince of brooding, Jon, and wants to be his friend. Either that or the NK's been trolling Jon.

    Proof?;
    1 – NK hears about the Prince that was Promised, NK tries to make his own prince by taking Craster's new born sons.
    2 – NK finds out that Jon might be that Prince and that he maybe joining the Nights Watch and that his uncle is a ranger. The NK takes out 2 rangers and sends the last one of to Winterfell to deliver a message to Jon.
    3 – NK hears that Jon's at Castle Black and that Jon is LC Mormont's personal steward, so he leaves 2 NW turned Wights for Ghost and Jon to find, who brings them back to Castle Black, one of them goes to the LC room believing that Jon might be there.
    4 – NK hears that Jon is part of the Great Ranging and that they've camped out at Crasters. NK sends a WW to investigate to make sure that Jon is indeed the Prince of Brood.
    5 – NK learns that Jon and the Great Ranging is stationed at the Fist of the First Men. NK goes there to find Jon and make his own NW ranging from the men there.
    6 – NK doesn't find Jon, but he learns that Sam is Jon's friend and Sam is headed for the Wall. He sends his new Wight NW ranging party to find Sam to say hi, in the hopes that Sam goes back to tell Jon.
    7 – NK hears that Sam may have/not escaped Craster's and if he did escape, Sam might not be able to find his way back to the Wall. NK sends a WW to find Sam and show him the way back.
    8 – NK learns that Jon has become the LC of the NW and that he has gone to Hardhome to ally with the Wildlings and take them south of the Wall. NK heads to Hardhome to greet and show Jon that he too is also a commander, and to get his own Wildlings.
    9 – NK has also heard that Jon is a good fighter, so he sends his own fighter to test Jon's skill.
    10 – NK learns that Jon is planning to capture a Wight. NK plans to meet him.
    11 – NK also knows that Jon will have Dany's dragons rescue Jon and that Jon has made a friend with the big Dragon. NK plans to take the big Dragon, but Jon is too close to that one, so he takes another.
    12 – NK learns that Jon is gathering an army and has gone south to Kingslanding to try and forge an alliance. NK plans to also go south to show Jon that he too can go south and forge an alliance.
    13 – NK knows that Jon has fallen in love with a Queen, so now the NK needs to get his own Queen.

    If only Jon could see how much the Night King is in love with him, this coming "war" could be over before it begins.

  12. Why do people call him the Nights King? I thought it was Night King. But then I heard of a theory that a truce was struck where the Lord Commander was to marry a wight walker and she was the Night Queen and he became the Nights King so they are different people. So I don't understand why the call him the Nights King

  15. what if…there was a misunderstood with what Bran saw and children of the forest thought that he saw? i mean…Bran didn't see the creation of the WW but the creation of night's king who was created to control the ww and keep them away from westeros…he was created later than the ww so he could be rheagar…who controls them for his own will…to take over westeros…that's why he is so intrested to john, because is his futher…and that's why he went straight for the dragon…because he is a targaryan…

  17. What if the night king is a Targaryen? He may have turned the Dragon, but what if he was the only one who could because of who he was in real life!? Maybe that's why he's so clued into Jon. Just throwing thay out there.

  22. There's only one problem I have with the timeline of Game of Thrones in reality there's absolutely no way people would be able to relate to ancestors more than 8000 years ago. think about it. Civilisations dont last that long. Think of all the records that have been lost to history during our own time. mostly burnt. Try and go back to the beginning of even the Egyptian civilisation your talking over 5000 years ago and we know little about them we don't even know how they really built the Pyramids. Now 8000 years is nearly twice that. It would be almost impossible for an ancestral line to last 8000 years such as Stark . It would mean they would all have to have Sons. Forever. One of my Grandfathers name lines died with him (Renouf) as he only had daughters and they later married. one of them my own mother. Just think about 8000 years. It's a very very long time. Even the Romans and the Greeks lasted less than 1500 years each. If George would of at least made it around 1000 years that would be more believable as the current Royals in the UK can trace their ancestors back to around 1000 AD but that's about it.

I don't think we need to look into this too much man I mean we don't really know anything about the night king. maybe he is just a little intimidated and he is studying his tactics and behaviors. I mean seriously guys these whites are colder than ice you really think they have emotions at all? You really think the night king has any sort of vested interest in anything but the annihilation of summer?

  34. what if the night king is rhaegar targaryen?? That is the reason why he could raise the dragon, what if he wanted to take the revenge for robert's rebellion and give back throne to john alias agen targaryen.?
