  1. My opinion on why a Stark bloodline must always remain in Winterfell and why Winterfell is unique.

    1. Starks have a genetic disposition to being wargs. Not every Targaryen is fire proof, can hatch a dragon, and/or ride a dragon. Same can be said for the Starks and their genetic ability. It can skip not just 1 but multiple generations of Starks or have multiple wargs within 1 generation. The Starks are sensitive to warg ability, some have more ability than others evidenced with Bran who became so much more than just a warg.

    2. Winterfell is built on a hotspring. Besides the dragon theory that everyone loves, from a more practical standpoint it would provide a wargs body with a nice comfortable place to go comatose even during a harsh winter night.

    3. The most unique thing about Winterfell is the heart tree. The warg/greensight/heart tree connection is the reason a Stark must always remain in Winterfell. Without control of Winterfell and thus the heart tree, the Starks would be greatly diminished in their natural capacities. Note that the only greenseer as of Season 7 is Brandon Stark.

This obviously brings back the theory that Ned Stark warged into a bird prior to his beheading. Would be neat to see him show up hanging around Winterfell as a pigeon lol.

  2. I think it is a mixture of the two.
The White Walkers know that they can break through the Wall, but they also know that the Starks will rally the North and drive them back. An unified North lead by the Starks is one of the few things they fear. In the same time, there is the Sacred Tree in Winterfell. The Starks hold to the Old Gods, so maybe while there is someone of Stark blood in Winterfell they become a symbol that drives off the White Walkers, same as with vampire and crosses. It isn't magic per say, but it works against the White Walkers.

  3. bran is lord of light. He is and was bran the builder. and he came up with the saying to make sure he was Born to do all the things he has do and things he has yet realized he has done, like what happened with hodor.

  4. The Night king is a Stark; He will not attack while there is a stark ruling south of the wall. The Starks honor tradition more than any family. when the starks are gone from Winterfell, winter will fully fall. The starks have been dishonored so night king was more awakened to battle. A greater king may need to be sacrificed in order to keep the peace and end winter.

  5. due to the recent events of chaos…their absence from Winterfell is the reason she said that (to prevent the very things that happened). it's just like someone wanting their home watched after while they go on vacation to minimize the possibility of intruders.

  6. Because it was part of the treatise made by the Last Hero, who was a Stark perhaps Bran the Builder or a relative, and the Night King/Others. When all the Starks were away from Winterfell during Robert's Rebellion the pact was broken. As it was Winterfell where the peace was made, and the Long Night ended. The Others were stopped and winter fell. Bran the Builder built Winterfell castle and the Wall to maintain the peace.

This is why there must always be a Stark at Winterfell, to maintain the invasion of the Others. Also they heed warning in the House saying "Winter is Coming"!

The Others are aggresive due to pact being broken and the magic of the blood of the First Men being broken. But they awoke when Jon Snow was born. As the Last Hero/Starks promised the Others a future descendant/prince to be heir to the Others and lead them in deathly glory or to lead all in Westeros into a magical and prosperous new age. They prophesied a special one to be born who will have the blood of the two most powerful and ancient magical peoples to live, Valyrian and First Men. A son of Ice and Fire.

  7. The North Remembers their Northerners (subset minor houses) to stand and processed the major House Stark in rule the King in the North/Lord of Winterfell with support thousand years.

  8. Yes Bran is the 3 Eye Raven, Brandon the builder, the lord of light, the many faces god and many other things, he said when they meet: "I`d being many things" he knew that Bran could not ever walk (but would fly) and he had the ability to travel in time be heard and altered the past (Hold the door)

The whole song of Ice and Fire is a Time and and space parodox, that Bran is living over and over and over again, he already messed up sooo many times and he is trying to fix it by not interfering or will eventually learn that must not interfere.

The 3 eye raven told him that "the past was written in INK and was dry". Was not a lie, was warning do not attempt to interfered any more. Will be like At the "edge of tomorrow" movie when he lived the whole 12 thousand year history over and over again for thousands and thousands of times trying patiently to fix everything over and over again, it`s his cursed .

Remember the tower of joy scene when he called "FATHER" the 3 eye raven stooped him because he already lived that moment.
